Actually according to a former Soviet soldier turned Canadian citizen told me the Soviet Afghan war did not really affect the Soviet populace, there was a lot of censorship in the USSR so the populace was fed victory propogandas. and the Soviet army sent category C units from Central Asia whose republics did not hold the levers of power in hte USSR(the politically important Soviet republics were Russia, Ukraine and Belarus). supported by the elite Soviet VDV and Spetsnaz units. yes many Soviet troops died but it really did not affect the Soviet populace support of the war, however what affeted the Soviet populace was the economic cost of the war in Afghanistan was just another facet why the Soviet lost the war, it was the economy .

  18. in the power struggle between the FSB/Patrushev/Rosgvardia(which is cold war KGB border guards 2.0) vs. Shoigu/GRU/Russian army, I highly suspect that Patrushev really wants to weaken and destroy Shoigu's power base which is the Russian army and what perfect way to do it is to ground them down in Ukraine which is what they are going to do since 85 percent of the Russian army is deployed in Ukraine, also that is why Shoigu knows this that is why they have a bunch of PMCs like Patriot and Redut to become his real base . Even being booted out of the ministry of defense shoigu probably still has the loyalty of the Russian military officers along with teh GRU which is the most important. I can see the power struggle between Patrushev and shoigu becoming much more overt in 2025 and in 2026.

  21. as for other Russian fuck ups, ongoing, well. already 5 months into the Ukrianian Kursk offensive, Russians still cant kick out the Ukainians and have reportedly suffered 75K casualties so far trying to kick out the Ukrainians at Kursk. Heck its so bad North Korea suffered about 3K casualties in nearly two months since being deployed in force in Kursk.

I think Ukraine can go at it withouit USA support, but with EU notably French, German and UK support. , the Russian army has really under performed in this war, and continues to underperform badly. and a lot of Ukrainian weapons esp. its drones are made in Ukraine. I think the western Europeans will back Ukraine if Ukraine does not accept a USA mandated peace deal with Russia. I think the Western Europeans are offended by Trump and his VPs meddling in EU affairs, not surprised if the reaction is to arm up their weapons production and support Ukraine and defy the USA esp. if the USA pulls out of NATO. I think NATO will survive even without American support as the UK, France and Germany take over the leadership of the organization and the Russian threat is much diminished due to the war in Ukraine. Ukraine's steadfast European allies will use Ukraine as the anvil to much diminish Russian military and economic power. and even without American support for NATO the Russians will still not attack NATO with the current state of the Russian military where it cant even defeat the Ukrainian and have to beg the Iranian, North Koreans and Chinese for help. Its that bad, even Russian nuclear forces is questionable as most Russian nukes probably wont work due to poor maintenance and corruption.

Yep agree, its rumored Shoigu and Patrushev(Russian army and FSB) took over ruling Russia after Putin's death in Oct 2023, since then there has been a power struggle. between Shoigu and Garasimov which was characterized by arrests and Russian oligarchs military officers, and gov officials falling from windows, seems like Patrushev FSB won the power struggle which Shoigu was removed from his defense ministry position. however was transferred to Patrushevs former position as secretary of the security council of Russia(suceeded by Shoigu) and became the aide to the president of Russia or maybe should I say , the real President of Russia with the Putin look alike being the puppet. with Patrushev really directing the show. Interesting that Shoigu was not killed and or arrested but was put in a new position as secretary of the security council of Russia, a ceremonial and useless position. Shoigu probably still has influence in the Russian army high command and if he is arrested or killed, the Russian army would probably revolt and do a coup. Notice the FSB is now heading up the so called Special military operation in Kursk, where the army should be the one heading it.

  28. while Kursk 2024 was the biggest display of military hardware in a battle....ever, the Russia Ukraine war 2022 to present is simply the biggest waste of Russian ex Soviet military hardware ever. imagine, Soviet military hardware built up and stored in poorly maintained Russian military storage depots since the 1950s was simply wasted away, in poorly planned coordinated military actions. the Ukraine warzones have become a massive military scrap heap of Soviet weaponry.

The collapse will get worse as the war goes on will get worse when the war is over when the Russian gov tries to shift the Russian economy from war to civlian, I forsee economic depression , hyperinflation, soldier who are paid say the ruble equivalent to 8K USD now all in rubles will suddenly find they have lost their value by 75 percent. by the time they go home after they demobilize , and faced with very high unemployment, the hundreds of thousands of Russian war veterans coming home to high unemployment depressed economy hyperinflation high prices of foodstuffs many will go into crime or get employed by the many PMCs private armies of Russian elites. who pay well and treat their soldiers much better than the Russian army. and with many soldiers getting out of the Russian army to these PMCs or form criminal gangs, then Putin tries to purge Russian elites and shift blame to them for the war failures and to try to ban PMCs, well....that will be a good recipe for a CIVIL WAR. I think this will occur within 10 years of the end of the Russian Ukraine war. and in the meantime, Ukraine will be rebuilding and rearming and reforming its economy , gov and esp. its mlitary for round 2 reform and rebuild along NATO lines. So imagine in ten years after the war is over, Russia on the verge or going into full blown civil war, with a now strengthened , strong and stable Ukrainian gov economy and military very vengeful and looking to take back its lost territory looking to take advantage of a Russian civil war. (not surprised in the meantime, the Ukrainians fund anti Putin and secessionist groups in Russia). ....the coming Russian civil war will be very bloody and confusing as the Syrian civil war with many factions and possibly even foreign intervention. Just like the 1917 to 1922 one=.

Well I think the war will drag the Russian economy to depression hyperinflation whose effects will come to full bloom after the war is over. With hundreds of thousands of Russian war veterans going back to their homes facing economic depression, hyperinflation, the massive loss of value of their savings. , rising and high food prices, high unemployment, even more repressive Russian gov. and the only jobs they can do in this environment that is in demand are hiring up to PMCs, the private armies of the oligarchs and elites and criminal groups. In order to secure his grip on power Putin blames the oligarchs and elites for the failings of the war and tries to purge them and outlaw PMCs, With their backs to the wall, the oligarchs and elites rebel with their PMCs, then there is civil war.

Personally I think with a Kamala win in 2024 which I think is a bit more likely than Trump winning, Russia will lose this war , Russian elites will cut their losses and withdraw completely from Ukraine including Crimea in exchange for lifting of all sanctions and normalized relations with the west. I also predict the Russian withdrawal from Ukraine will really be messy and will be worse than the Russian withdrawal from Chechnya in the aftermath of the 1st Chechen war where Russian officers will abandon their men and Russian soldiers in Ukraine will fend for themselves as Russian units dissolve into mobs of bandits, the Ukrainian army will probably still be fighting to maintain order, noting that the Russian army has around 85 percent of its current standing army in Ukraine it will be a massive disaster as the Russian army practically collapses and as that happens, without the Russian army which is the glue that keeps the Russian federation together, things will go south fast in Russia as law and order collapses and the only ones keeping order will be PMCs. and the Rosgvardia. the Russian army will leave most of its weapons it Ukraine behind and the Ukrainians will use these to influence the unrest in Russia influencing their favorite political factions with weapons support. Time of troubles 2.0 will be coming to Russia in 2025 or in 2026. and it will be worse than the 90s and last longer too. Russians you can all thank Putin for what will be coming.

I agree with him, as I said many a time in the past , PUtin is probably frozen in some freezer in his ural bunker kaput since Oct 2023, and the Russian elites are just waiting to see the results of the 2024 USA presidential elections, if Trump wins more war and get a superior position in the peace negotiations, if Kamala wins, then the elites will cut their losses and negotiate for peace in 2025. Either way, I think the war will end in late 2025 or in 2026 with either the Russians negotiating a peace deal with Russia in control of 20 percent of Ukraine and keeping Crimea, in a Trump win or a complete Russian withdrawal from Ukraine including Crimea in a Kamala Harris win. Also swan lake will probably play in 2025 or in 2026 then later all the blame will go to the now deceased Putin. I suspect in a Kamala Harris win, the Russians might go on a desperate on last major all out offensives in 2025 in order to inflict such a blow to the Ukrainians to get a leg up in the final negotiations, this will probably be disastrous and fail which will influence the final outcome of the war.
