We never went more than two weeks without visiting, every visit was at least three days long, we had a plan that she would either move back or I would move to her city, and we also made sure to continue progressing the relationship. Like, don’t just stay stagnant with the long distance. We actually got engaged on one of my visits. After about a year total she moved back to where I was, and we’ve been married for 13 years.

They don’t know that the 1-10 scale is actually just a 1-9 scale with 5 as the mean, and that about 65-70% of the population lands in the 4-6 range. About 12% is in the 2-3 range and another 12% is in the 7-8 range. That leaves only roughly 5% or so to be split evenly between the 1 category and the 9 category. There are no 10’s because that indicates zero flaws, and there are no 0’s because being alive gets you at least a 1.

  17. @ It’s not “people” in general. It’s mostly a female phenomenon. They do it because females absolutely crave and need group approval. Men don’t require that nearly as much, and are much less likely to receive it no matter what they do. A woman can just exist and as long as she’s not fat, has a face that is at least marginally attractive, and is willing to show even a slight amount of skin, she’s going to receive support online.

Not sure how old you are, but I can tell you that high quality men in their 30’s and 40’s are often capable of pulling women in their 20’s. Younger women have less baggage and drama, and they usually have a lower body count. These things aren’t necessarily your fault. They just are the way they are.

It takes way more energy to find and cultivate a new relationship than to say “you’re not doing that.” You are literally advocating for not communicating what your boundaries are. I was dating a girl who had her ex-BF’s number in her phone and he was friends with her on Facebook and he would sometimes comment on her pictures. I told her to delete his number, delete him from social media, and cut off all contact. She complied with my requests that very same day. We have been married for 13 years now, together for 15, with three kids. I could have said “She is not worth the energy for me to use my words and tell her that is not acceptable.” But that would be idiotic. It takes zero energy to tell a woman what your boundaries are.
