  1. The one thing I am missing in this discussion is the impact of MODERATION. They only talk about "this side's viewpoint" and "that side's viewpoint" in their PURE and EXTREMIST FORMS. Personally I am a great fan of Paraceslus' key sentence of "the dosis makes the poison" because it can be applied more or less everywhere (and not just to actual chemical substances) ... and maybe "salvation" isnt in ONE IDEOLOGY OR THE OTHER (as it looks now with all the extremists bashing each others' heads in) or trying to silence the other opinion (Google manifesto, Ryerson University being bullied into stopping Peterson from speaking on free speech, ...) but rather in JUST TAKING THE BEST BITS OF AN IDEOLOGY TO CREATE A MIXED WORLD THAT WORKS WELL ... kinda like "allowing capitalism" but "taking it on a socialist leash to prevent abuse of workers AND to provide health care to everyone" (basically the british NHS: it works but is pretty much socialism).

You need to fulfill some requirements for that ... and this is more or less "being able to OVERRIDE YOUR INSTINCTS," i.e. being able to choose WHAT IS RIGHT instead of WHAT IS EASY.

Dear "carpet kneelers" (blame YT for censoring the real word behind it, they often enough auto-delete comments), your religion does NOT belong into western civilisations for a simple reason (actually several): - it is a POLITICAL RELIGION with "a set of laws INCLUDED IN THE RELIGION" and a "separate treatment of believers and unbelievers" - it never went through THE ENLIGHTENMENT ... which is where RELIGION LOST ITS POLITICAL POWER in western nations AND - the "organisation of religious teaching" is NOT HIERARCHICALLY STRUCTURED and every Imam can interpret the rules as he sees fit ... which ALLOWS FOR EXTREMISM TO DEVELOP ... and this is independent of the specific religion, because it happened with christian sects a lot of times, with "Jonestown" probably being the most prominent one (usually they dont result in violence against others like with "carpet kneeling", where the POLITICAL RELIGION gives "the enemy").
