If you don't have a horrible psychological reaction to what you were doing, how can you change? This is especially true when you were getting rewarded for years doing the behavior that everyone agrees is bad. If I did drugs for years and someone paid me millions of dollars for it, when I claimed one day to be completely sober everyone would rightly be skeptical and cynical. It's even more true if there's no detox or similar period of time in which I am clearly suffering to show that change is happening.

@DoctorWhat000 Of course not. Nobody is psychic. I just know how human beings work. If someone says "You're going to need to drink water in order to survive because that's how humans are", only a fool would respond "Are you psychic?"
