A few things: 1) The CEO was piloting the sub, not the young white lady in the promo material 2) The CEO set up an acoustic modem for communication with the surface that regularly dropped out of contact because he didn't like being interrupted 3) The CEO only previously tested the sub to a depth of 3000m and the Titanic sits at roughly 3800m There are a LOT of questions about the viability of this particular sub and its construction. If we find out that it imploded, I'm sure there will be some serious regulation required for any future exploration to the Titanic. Edit: The submersible had previously been out a few times but had warnings of failure. Also a debris field was found suggesting a catastrophic implosion that would have only taken a millisecond or two, vaporizing the passengers instantly. Supposedly they found the aft cone, and at least the landing skids, enough to identify the craft.

  4. When I finally leave California, it certainly wouldn't be to Texas. The states have an identical demographic problem. Texas is only a decade or two behind. If Texas doesn't secede and remove the welfare programs, it will become a blue state and never turn back in a decade or less.

  7. It would be nice if we could boycott everything woke. The problem is that ALL companies are woke. We have zero control if we don't make a very targeted boycott. Pretty much every product in the grocery store is sold by a woke corporation. Every product sold on the internet or in a retail store, woke corporation. We need to make a surgical strike, especially against companies that have mostly conservative customers like basic beer companies. Once the boycott works, move onto another boycott.

  9. There are no non-terrestriel spacecraft that have ever visited Earth, period. Anyone who believes that is a moron. We would be in a technological golden age if we had access to that kind of superior architecture. To reverse engineer the outside shell of such a craft alone would advance our civilization by hundreds of years in manufacture capability. I really wish that conservatives would stop being so gullible.

  10. Everyone keeps talking about the personal chef angle but nobody is thinking about the fact that it will be nearly impossible to remove those people from their homes should the need arise. Police won't do it. You can't evict them. Non-citizens are federal jurisdiction and Biden's flunkies won't remove them.

  11.  @AcMrPro  Suppose they survive a few days with current life support at the bottom of the ocean. How do you get them off the bottom of the ocean before they perish? If their ballast system worked, they would have used it by now. Even finding their sub would be extremely difficult because they are out of contact. I am really not very optimistic about finding them and somehow using a winch and a few mile steel cable to pull them up before they run out of life support.

  13.  @RayGetardo  What exactly are you looking for? You are aware that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 exists that bans discrimination based on religious beliefs correct? There have been many cases in which that has been expanded. These kinds of cases are constantly in the civil courts. I was a prospective juror for one myself.

  14.  @RayGetardo  Yes religious and political belief are the same thing. That being said, we're not talking about that. We're discussing what would hold up in court, and they refer to ORGANIZED religions. In that case you might be right in that it would be better to use a religious discrimination angle and claim that you are Christian. Of course it wouldn't work if you were lying because the defense would pick apart your history of religious practice, so you would need to actually be a churchgoing member at the least.

  16. The reason the corporations have a policy of firing employees that confront shoplifters is because when an employee gets hurt, they will sue the corporation. They won't/can't sue the county or city. This means all of the risk is on the business when an employee confronts a shoplifter. It's unsustainable. They need to figure out some way to work with the city to catch the thieves or they're all going to go out of business.
