  1. We need a sense of community and a common culture. You're not going to get that without something like church. Progressivism is too hostile and divisive. Besides Progressivism is just pre-communism and communism doesn't work. You need some kind of collectivist group activity to bind people together or you will constantly be at each other's throats.

I've seen single mothers and how poorly most of their children do in life, especially when they actively push the fathers out of the kid's life. 2 gay parents, depending on how they behave, would be a step up from that. But IMO a child needs both a mother and a father to truly be balanced. A father brings a certain world view and approach to life that is much different from a mother and vise versa. This is the main problem with gay marriage. No matter how loving you are toward your kid, you will not have that dual-aspect approach to parenting that a mother and father bring.

  3. When I was young, church was a place of community and helping heal your mind. If you were having angry thoughts or lustful thoughts, perhaps you would go to church and it would put things into perspective and help calm you and put you back on the right path. Some people call this saving your soul. I've always been an atheist, but I've never disliked Christianity or Christians in general. In fact my atheism may have been caused by my mother working a full time job and going to college when I was a toddler instead of caring for me. We didn't go to church much when I was a kid. As a consequence of the poor parenting and lack of church going, I never believed much. But that hasn't stopped me from recommending to my own daughter to raise any potential kids of her own in a church environment instead of a hedonistic lifestyle. We need churches. We need the community and the culture. We don't need them to pander to leftist ideologues and pretend to care about rich leftist green ideology. People are becoming more and more unhappy precisely because of the leftist ideology and hedonism. Don't try to join them. Try to offer them the fix they desperately need. We all need it, even me the atheist and my daughter. I want my future grandkids to grow up in a healthy family with Christian values. It's not too late, but there has to be a Christianity there to raise them in. She can't just raise her kids in leftism and pretend it's Christianity.

  6. Gay parenting is the same issue as gay marriage. But really it's the same issue as atheist marriage. Really, you're copying a religious ceremony. Why? I say this as an atheist. Do you hope to be just like religious people? Do you think your marriage will last if your vows are based on nothing but well-wishing? Do most religious people really believe in the eternal damnation that they will suffer if they break their vows that they swore in front of god? Sadly I think the divorce rates of a lot of religious people reveal the truth of that. People claim to believe in things they don't truly believe. They participate in ceremonies they don't truly believe in. Why? Honestly I think it's mostly because of tradition and the desire to fit in.

The 2nd worst function is the ability to tweet user links rather than simply having them hidden in reply metadata. When you design a social media site this way, it's no wonder that the users inevitably start attacking each other over petty things.

  12. Women care most about social status when looking for a long term mate, but they are attracted to men who display alpha traits on a sexual level. These don't always pair up. This is why women will often have a kid with the wrong people and then break it off. They can't get the attraction and social status in the same package. The bad boys act like alphas and the ones with the high social status are the smart ones with college degrees who tend to act like betas but aren't very attractive.

  20. Russia is doing what they think is best for Russia. By interfering, are we doing what is best for our countries? or are we helping some global world order? I think you know the answer. I wouldn't mind helping Ukraine if all other countries were also helping Ukraine, but I cannot help but notice that every time there is a problem in the world it seems to fall on countries like America and the UK to intervene. Somehow it's our duty to spend billions or even trillions of dollars. Our duty to take in millions of immigrants. Our duty to manufacture resources and direct responses. But what do we gain? Territory? No. Manpower? No. Loyalty? No. Resources? No. So why bother? Why are we making our countries poorer for this globalist agenda when so many other people won't?

  25. Everybody lies in both major and minor ways all the time. When you know your political opponent has a good point but you refuse to acknowledge it, that can be a lie by omission and often is. When someone asks you how you are doing and you say "Great" even though you feel like you are doing chores and having a miserable time, that is a minor or white lie. I think what we're really talking about his how much our lies can negatively affect other people, knowing that, and choosing to tell them anyway. In the bible, they specifically called out one type of lie: "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." The reason this kind of lie is so damaging is because it often has serious criminal implications or ruins marriages and such. These are the most damaging and victimizing kinds of lies. They could also be used in politics to start wars. If you think about false flags where people claim that such and such kind of attack happened when it didn't, this fits the same method of lying where you are bearing false witness. Libel and slander laws often address specifically these kinds of lies of bearing false witness precisely because they are so damaging.
