  1. It's actually a clever way to remove the progressive tax system. Since everyone is buying stuff from overseas, everyone pays more for goods. With everyone paying the extra tariff, and shifting away from income taxes, it would essentially transfer from a progressive tax system to a completely sales tax system (or semi-vat tax). I predict a lot of left-wing complaints about this.
