It's a disaster as long as politicians of both sides are involved. As soon as they step aside people and businesses will work something out.

One thing is certain. No matter how incompetent, inefficient and deceitful the EU is - no one will be kicked out or held to account. They write their own rules and are untouchable.
14
How dare the Poles decide their own laws?
13
Maybe they can cut their salaries and expense accounts?
12
The big advantage of being part of such a large bloc is that nothing can ever be agreed.
11
Quite a few EU politicians will be hiding from their own countrymen over the next few months. π
11
The EU does seem to be a retirement home for failed politicians from all over the continent.
11
I'm not convinced the EU actually knows what democracy is. Otherwise they'd ban it.

Unfortunately as the uk is now forced to trade on WTO rules we have to impose the same tariffs on food imports from Ireland as we do on the rest of the world. This is without taking into account the rather unlevel playing field of state subsidies in the agriculture sector under the CAP which may result in even higher tariffs on all eu goods. I'm not sure how the French will take to Ireland selling their surplus production there - they can get a bit touchy when the mood takes them.

We condemn this....and to prove it we're going to let in another million.
8
Barnier has been a typical EU disaster. I'm sure he'll be booted upstairs somewhere as a reward for his incompetence.
7
Another powerless nobody in a suit grandstanding.
6
The toolbox is another couple of hundred meetings.
6
SΓ©rgio Pinto sorry - we've already left.
6
An unelected German ruler accusing others of being far right. What a topsey turvey world we now live in.
5
For a small, relatively sparsely populated country Ireland has plenty of waters. To share with their partners.
5
No one is saying Britain will not buy Irish produce - merely that it will now be subject to (cheaper) competition from the rest of the world. The days of protectionism are coming to an end.
5
Bollocks. The EU were sneering when they thought we'd cave in.
5
Well, that was his moment of glory. Obviously nothing of any meaning but he looked pleased with himself.
5
The toolbox is hoping someone else sorts the problem out. The chance of the EU doing this are zero.
5
The usual EU non-action. In effect the easiest course is to hope Erdogan will eventually lose control of Turkey. So let's just proceed on the basis that this is what will happen. Children playing in a grown up world.
5
There seems an endless supply of European men in suits all crying wolf.
5
Have these Brussels nobodies not realised yet that no one on the planet takes them seriously.
5
If the eu consider the Ukraine an important neighbour maybe they shouldn't have initiated a war there.
5
Anti-corruption? This woman has a short memory, has she already forgotten why Merkel kicked her out of Germany and dumped her on Brussels?
5
One thing everyone can agree on is going green and growth are at different ends of the economic spectrum - despite von der Lying's BS.
5
European law is what the commission decides it is.
4
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just keep claiming your expenses, make a few speeches and let the big boys sort out the world.
4
The "level playing field" is a total lie. So many exclusions - especially by Germany and France - it's meaningless.
4
This is just a talking shop for failed politicians from all over Europe.
4
Micron making more "I want a job in Europe when I get kicked out" noises. If he wants to escalate the situation why doesn't he just do it?
4
Brussels, the land of the "lobbyist" lecturing on corruption! Hilarious.
4
Ok. Enjoy your Eurovision music. π
3
They're politicians. I'd recommend believing every word that leaves their honest lips.
3
The EU is hiding their bad intentions under the guise of caring about Northern Ireland. So transparent.
3
Even the translator sounded bored.
3
Only a fool would "trust" an unelected body. And Barnier is obviously being pushed out. π
3
I'm guessing the sanctions will be the same as those imposed on Russia....anything that doesn't affect the German economy.
3
Democracy is about giving the people a say? He hasn't quite grasped how the eu works yet, has he?
3
Nice Lion You've just stated you will no longer be listening to British music. So good luck with your own stuff. π
2
The EU does nothing. Trade moves because businesses make it move. Just keep drawing your ridiculous salaries and shut up.
2
With crooks like von der Leyen at the top Europe has no future.
2
European woman boasting about the size of her box. Maybe they should talk in their own language.
2
The EU now has over 27000 pointless bureaucrats. And they're all taking it in turns to make these pointless little speeches.
2
She says all the right things, has never achieved anything, failed as a politician in her own land and never allows criticism of the new fatherland. Perfect choice.
2
EU foreign policy. Worked in the Ukraine - why change now?
2
No! Plenty of wars to create yet.
2
I have to agree - there are thirty odd European languages and now Britain has left they should use one (or all) of those.
2
What we are doing is breaking an agreement.
2
specialparadise The solidarity of talking for hours and hours, going for lunch and filling in their expense claim forms. That'll do the trick.
