Let's start with the fact that the demonstrated platform is assembled from a sawn "civilian" version of the VSS. Further, the silencer in this special sniper rifle is an integral part of the barrel (it is called a silencer barrel), and the original design is designed very competently: with a minimum number of partition washers, it provides significant absorption of the sound of the shot (in fact, the shot does not differ from an air rifle). The disadvantage in operation is a significant accumulation of powder gas sediment and the difficulty of cleaning the silencer, the barrel resource is also relatively small - but the barrel can still be replaced entirely ;0)
The "Vintorez" was developed as a rifle for police special forces and counter-terrorist units for actions in urban conditions, the actual range of fire is 400 m, and the bullet, due to the supersonic initial velocity, considerable mass and caliber, has a fairly steep trajectory - therefore, optics graded for this caliber are used for it. Well, in the original, it has a continuous fire mode (which seems superfluous with a regular 10-round magazine).
This system was developed in the rifle - cartridge complex, based on specific tasks. The basis of the cartridge - the blank of the x39 sleeve - is taken for practical reasons, it greatly reduces the cost of production (in fact, a large-caliber bullet is rolled into the standard blank of the sleeve). the volume of the sleeve is sufficient so that when fully packed, the initial velocity of the bullet is approximately 480 m / s, but here no silencer design will help completely suppress the sound, and the gas release through the shutter window will be excessive.
In the original, the sound of a shot from the VSS against the background of daytime noise is not heard at all, in complete silence, the clang of the bolt group is louder than the sound of a shot. Of course, an uncleaned muffler barrel will be less effective at suppressing sound.
