  1. That to be honest is quite expected scenario. It is one of the reasons no one expected invasion. Putin should at least pull off under fake excuse. But his hubris triggered his downfall.

  3. Russia is still occupying sizable portion of historical China and apparently Xi was not happy with Putin stepping it in Chinese influence zone (Korea and Vietnam). Due to blockade of Suez Channel, China currently rely on land route going through Poland and Belarus. In fact Chinese send personel to do military training with Belarus, what happen after visit of President of Poland in China. If anything that is to grant Lukashenko Chinese protection from Putin. I seriously do not think China would enter war on side of Russia. But I suspect that they may start silently pressuring Putin to just stop. Because it become clear that NATO would not give up and Putin can't really win. And starting WW3 over Ukraine is straight not Chinese business.
