I agree that trying to invoke her sympathy is meaningless. However I disagree about anger. Actually getting angry is probably the best reaction out of all. One of the biggest mistakes of the american culture is the idea that you can build relationships with your girlfriend/wife the same way as with a business partner -- on a mutual respect. The thing is however that you can't, because women can't fathom respect, this concept is absolutely alien to them. If you try to "tell her to cut it out", she'll continue. What you gonna to then? Run away from her to the garage? That would be basically a defeat. What americans don't understand is that large portion of "toxic" relationships are actually normal, this nagging from woman is actually a series of tests to check if you're aggressive enough to protect her and kids, it's an evolutionary thing. And aggressiveness is one the reasons why women like criminals so much.
