  4. Interesting. Also I've stumbled upon an article "The effect of marital status on life expectancy: Is cohabitation as protective as marriage?" by Anne G. Balter, Dorethe S. Bjerre and Malene Kallestrup-Lamb. According to them they used actual time of "departure" in their study, hope it helps
