Thanks, Pyotr, for inviting Jake Broe to give his take on this. I too was surprised that they're volunteers. Was this just a short interview? Or is a longer conversation coming up? Cheers from Denmark.

I expect the officers to return home with their experiences. I do have my doubts about the ordinary soldiers though. But who knows. They might get promoted to the better levels of society for (if they survive) this expedition, on top of receiving 200 medals each.
