MineFall MG - the stop motion maker its not faking it! Singers have been using fx for years! Delay, reverb, compression, de essing, doubling, chorus, limiting, eq...most of those fx are on every single recording and live performance! A little pitch correction cant even be detected when used like that. Hard tunining is just another effect, like a massive delay, which loads of singers use in certain songs. Guitarists often have massive pedal boards filled with fx. Whats the difference?

MineFall MG - the stop motion maker you seem to have skipped over tbe fact that singers or producers use all those other fx I mentioned. Autotune is also used to make the voice sound different! It dosent mean that the singer cant sing without it! Its often used to and texture, colour and interest. Oh and Im not sure why you mention Tom Morello, hes a massive user of FX. And even the cleanest guitar sound usually has at least a little reveb on it!

MineFall MG - the stop motion maker I didnt say reverb is worse than auto tune! I said, every single recording has all those fx on it, has done since the 60s! Time marches on and modern music has a different, more processed and produced sound. Recording studios cost $1000 plus per hour! So you can have a singer sing 40 takes of a song for 4 hours or you can do 5 takes, correct the pitch slightly and move on. Its no big deal, its just a tool to help get the job done. Even Morellos acoustic guitar is loaded with eq, reverb, delay and compression. They are all fx that a non player probably wouldnt even hear...until you turn them all off...

MineFall MG - the stop motion maker I'm sorry but you're wrong. Let's look at your examples. The Eagles. They absolutely use fx! They have 5 singers. They need compression at an absolute minimum to get their voices to sit together in the mix! Apart from that, their vocals are loaded with reverbs and delays. They are prolific users of vocal doubling, it's part of their sound! SOAD. Compressed, doubled, reverb, delayed vocals all over their records. Listen to the vocal track on Metallicas Enter Sandman in isolation and you will hear doubling (Hetfield is really good at it!), delay, reverb, loads of compression to make him sound louder and possibly even a filter. Ben Johnson, effected. Megadeath, effected. Zach De La Rocha, I've never heard of her but a "talented rapper" is an oxymoron. Even the classical music you mention has fx applied during recording. It would be almost impossible to record it without at least applying compression and eq. I'm. Not sure how much you know about the recording process but even recording a single sound direct to tape or DAW with a single mic in a room will add an effect! Here's some homework for you. Go listen to ELOs Telephone Line, this was a huge hit for them and it was recorded in 1977. Listen to Lenny Kravitz Always on the run! Green Days American Idiot, Phill Collins, In the Air Tonight, Tupacs California Love. I could go on but I'm sure you get my point. Report back once you have listened to them all and tell me again how auto tune is cheating...

MineFall MG - the stop motion maker honestly, Im not overly familier with their music but Ill go listen to some so I can give you examples. If it was recorded in the last 30 years, I can absolutely garantee you that it will have vocal processing of some sort applied. Its just a fact. Just because you cant hear it, doesnt mean its not there!

They use it to save time in the studio and to ensure live performances are not compromised by tired voices and dancing around Etc...

MineFall MG - the stop motion maker I absolutely assure you that if you could listen to a SOAD vocal track in isolation, you will hear delay, doubling, reverb, probably reverse delay, compression etc Etc...it's just how modern music is recorded these days...have you done your homework yet?

MineFall MG - the stop motion maker if you spent any time at all in a recording studio, you would realise you are wrong. Its just part of the process to get the correct sound.
