This was one of the main reasons my mom divorced my dad, years later me and my wife were at my mom's and I have this saying when my wife starts to do this "suffer in silence", it's teasing and we talked about it, but when my mom heard it she got offended for my wife, so I explained how to a man who loves his wife, sitting there and listening without solving her issues is like hearing a baby scream for hours and is asking him to go against his nature. She (my mom) glazed over and clearly had a moment of introspection. Both men and women have natural impulses that we need to reign in and keep control of and when we don't do that we will end up being bad people.
