@bobkudla6960 spot on.
I learned how to drive on a manual geo metro, first attempt was on a inclined gravel hill lol. First car was also a manual and I prefer them for sure.
Right now I've just got a 08 Subaru outback and dude, such a pile of crap! I mean I've not been kind to it lol. Around 220k miles I completely blew the engine, a piston ring must have come out and jammed the cylinder or something cause the piston itself was blown to pieces and sitting in the oil pan, did a engine swap for a newer engine that had just under 10k miles on it. Never touched the transmission but the fluid is clean so I'm not gonna risk that. But the electrical is crap and being a boxer engine you've gotta remove the engine if you wanna do any head work which includes adjusting the valves.
Also I've high centered it before and that fancy all wheel drive goes out the window, had to have the wife drive it while I used a log to pry the read end to get it out. Plus because it's not new and not American replacement parts are hit or miss, most are total crap and those that aren't are over priced.
I worked at Subaru and could get parts cheap so thats why I got it, don't work there anymore though and no matter what anyone tells you, they are city cars only, they are not cut out for much more than that and they don't even do that very well, crap gas mileage for a little commuter.
