The way I dealt with this was to invite the ex to his sons muay thai practice I put him in and talk to him like a normal guy. I made it clear that I wouldn't try to take his role as father at all but to support it and that I would also be the best male role model for his son I could be, taking the dynamic and making it about the boy and not the weird situation it would've been otherwise. He definitely respected me for this and it helped him move forward in his own life, meanwhile my girlfriend at the time hated it and it made her hate him even more and I'm sure she hated me a bit for it too, but she couldn't argue against it, eventually once we broke up she would bring her son in to my work which was open to the public, let her son (who loved me) see me and then not let him come talk to me just to try to get to me out of spite. The sad look on her son's face when she wouldn't let him come talk to me was the real heart break. Not much later though she got hooked on meth and dad got full custody. I know I had a positive impact on both of them and I hope they are both doing well, seriously a fucked up situation, she let her bitterness turn her into the lowest type of person anyone could be, it was all about her and never about her son.

Yeah, even then I'd want some of my own and then train them all to be modern day warlords. But, back when I was a simp I did date a single mom, I did end up being the father figure for him and he loved me because I taught him, teaching him also taught me a lot, I'd be giving him red pills that I didn't even live by and then realize I wasn't taking my own advice. What really sucked though when that relationship ended was that I wouldn't be there for him and she wound up using him against me, she would bring him in to my workplace (that was public), make sure me and him saw each other and would basically taunt me with him, the worst part is that he wanted to come talk to me, he missed me and you could see how sad he was when she wouldn't let him, that right there was the real heart break, seriously fucked up.
