  1. A lot of experts say that peak oil will happen by 2030 (likely earlier for North America). Separating from CPP may look good for the Alberta government now but if the oil industry stagnates starting in a few years then in 20 years hindsight might show that it was a very bad idea to separate Alberta pensions from CPP.
