@scpython1 Taiwan has never been part of communist China - not for a second. Donbas is part of Ukraine and has been for a long time. Also, the government of communist China actually has no legitimate claim to represent the interests of the people on the mainland, let alone the people on Taiwan because there has never been a free election in communist China. The government of Ukraine was democratically elected whereas invading Russian forces in the Donbas representing

@SpazzyMcGee1337 I don't understand what you expect Taiwan to do to reduce tensions other than to disband its military and tell the communists to just walk in and take over. Taiwan isn't sending ships or planes into communist China territory to ramp up tensions. Taiwan just wants to be left alone.

@wingng4331 actually the United States fought to a draw in Vietnam and got out only due to political pressure because regular Americans were understandably horrified by seeing what war is really like on their televisions. In Afghanistan it wasn't even close. American forces quickly defeated the Taliban and drove them from power in just over a month. That after 20 years of dealing with terrorist attacks from the Taliban while waiting for the corrupt Afghan government and military to get their acts together the United States decided to get out of Afghanistan doesn't change the fact that when there was a real conventional war the Americans very quickly prevailed. And of course when China tried to invade Vietnam 4 decades ago the Vietnamese quickly drove Chinese forces out of the country and now 40 years later there is virtually nobody in the entire Chinese military who has any real combat experience.

The same China that thinks that most of Eastern Russia is Chinese territory that was stolen from China in the 1800s and should again become part of China? The same China that has recently been taken advantage of Russia's desperate situation and so is offering Russia only extremely low prices for its oil - prices as low as half the world price for non-Russian oil and prices so low that Russia is making little or nothing beyond the cost of production? Fact is that neither China nor any other country is a friend to Russia. Any country that is trading with Russia or siding politically with Russia is doing it only to serve its economic interests and/or to ensure its supplies of oil, gas, weapons or raw materials from Russia.

@RLyc1111 fine. Let us know when communist China stops being a brutally, oppressive dictatorship run by thugs who see the country as their own property and the citizens as their slaves and develops basic rule of law, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and has free elections so that the world can see what Chinese democracy on the mainland looks like. Brutal, oppressive dictatorship is not democracy - it's just dictatorship.

@itsthenewlifeofsomeone1 Japan and Cuba are sovereign countries. If Hawaii wants to have a referendum on independence that's fine with me although the residents might want to consider whether it's a good idea in a world in which the very brutal, aggressive, belligerent CPC dictatorship is building a huge navy. I doubt very much that the other places you mention want independence or would be financially viable if they were independent. I think that a lot of money pours in from the federal government.

@jkc3738 "rodent kingdoms"? Lol. You do realize that you're starting to rant complete inanities that don't have any connection to logic or reality don't you? Strongly suggest that you stay offline for a long time to avoid further embarrassment. And just so you know - there is no such thing as a rodent kingdom outside of your very confused mind and of course countries around the world know that Taiwan is a real country that has never been part of communist China and treat it as such. It's just a technicality that officially they pretend Taiwan is not a country because if they did say Taiwan is a country the immature CPC would have another of its toddler tantrums and wail and cry. By the way remember that the government of Taiwan has been democratically elected by the people whereas the dictatorship in communist China has never held a democratic election and thus can't claim to represent any citizens and thus has no legitimacy. That means that if mainland China were ever to merge with Taiwan the elected, legitimate government of Taiwan would be the logical choice to rule the new united country.

@w.monster1077 being independent does sound like being neutral. Being considered a province of mainland China does not sound neutral - it sounds like being part of mainland China. Where else in the world is a place you would say would be neutral by being part of another country? If South Korea became a province of Japan would you say "That's good. Now South Korea is neutral in any dispute between Japan and North Korea"? That simply makes no sense.

Actually it was China that was ranting anger over the spy balloon incident but don't bother with the facts if they upset your narrative.
1
@tasreasfatemsa8266 time for that to change. Enough with giving in to China's toddler crying every time somebody talks or interacts with Taiwan.

Taiwan doesn't have anti-China policies. It just wants to protect itself from a belligerent extremely aggressive communist China which keeps threatening to invade and occupy Taiwan and brutally oppress its people as is happening in Hong Kong. Taiwan leaders would have to be crazy to not do that.
1
@cristinaximera9663 don't know what the heck you are talking about. Even if there was no United States in the world Russia would still have invaded Ukraine to fulfill insecure Putin's fantasies of being Peter the Great and to steal Ukraine's resources and China would still be threatening to invade Taiwan because the tyrants running communist China see Taiwan like Hong Kong as a place with lots of wealth to steal and because the CPC leadership get very nervous about the mainland Chinese people they oppress seeing nearby free, prosperous countries filled with Chinese people.
1
The only people who want Chinese people to fight other Chinese people are the leaders of the CPC dictatorship. Nobody else wants war.
1
You think the Americans started the 1930s Chinese civil war that eventually led to the divide between Taiwan and communist China? No. Not true. The Chinese did that very well on their own.
1
Utter nonsense. Putin invaded Crimea, Donbas and the rest of Ukraine because he is a weak, paranoid, insecure man who thinks he can compensate for his personal problems by pretending he is Peter the Great and recreating the Russian empire and because he wants to steal resources from Ukraine. It's nothing to do with the United States trying to help Ukraine prepare itself to deal with Russian attack. And the same applies to communist China and Taiwan.
1
@accountantthe3394 that makes absolutely no sense. The CPC broke a promise and brutally cracked down on basic freedoms in Hong Kong because that's just how brutal dictators think and behave. How people in Hong Kong behaved has nothing to do with it.
1
@thomaszhang3101 Hong Kong's per capita income is about four times that of Msinland China. Doesn't sound like stagnation to me.
1
@RLyc1111 freedom and communist China have absolutely no connection and never have.
1
If communist China wasn't constantly threatening Taiwan then Taiwan wouldn't feel the need for military support from the United States.
