@abram8874 The United States is already producing record amounts of oil and already is expected to significantly increase production in 2024 as are Canada, Brazil, Guyana and possibly Venezuela as well. It's not as if the American government or oil companies are saying "Well we could produce more oil now but we don't feel like doing that".

@jmhorange American gasoline prices are incredibly low and still would be even if they went up 25%. Ask any European and they will explain that to you.

@jmhorange Letting Imperialist Russia conquer Ukraine and then continue conquering European countries one by one is certainly not in the interest of the United States. Just letting Russia conquer Ukraine all by itself sends a message to China that the United States will not make a serious effort to prevent China from conquering Taiwan and sends a message to North Korea that the United States will not make a serious effort to stop North Korea from conquering South Korea. And one can't assume that an emboldened China wouldn't try to take territory from Vietnam, India, the Philippines and other countries.

If 10% of Russian oil refineries are off line and Ukraine is getting more skilled at damaging refineries and is going to keep attacking them then how will the financial situation of the Russian government and its ability to wage war be effected if a few months from now 23% of Russian oil refineries are off line? That's not just a nuisance for Russia. And the fsct that Russia msde a decision to cut oil exports for the rest of this year suggests that Russia is already having trouble with its oil industry. Russia certainly wouldn't be very willing to give up all that oil revenue if it had a choice - not when it really needs oil revenue to fund its war effort. Yes, it's true that so fsr Ukrainian drone attacks are targeting oil refineries, not oil production, but clearly Russia is having problems with its oil industry. Perhaps some day Ukraine will start targeting Russian oil production and pipelines.

@neptuno7351 The United States exported over four million barrels of oil a day in 2023. No idea why you would claim otherwise unless you are in the MAGA cult. And what's that OPEP you're talking about? Never heard of it. There is an organization called OPEC which tries to keep oil prices high and the United States is not part of it for the obvious reason that the United States doesn't want extremely high oil prices among other reasons - it's nothing to do with whether the United States exports oil. Canada has the third highest oil exports of any country and Canada is not in OPEC.

@danechristmas6570 Your comment makes absolutely no sense. The original comment said that the west should change what it is doing snd you say, "No, the west should change what it is doing and not keep doing the same thing it's been doing". Make up your mind whether you want the west to change what it is doing or not.
