Tim Severin tried to redo some historic voyages using the original technology. He said that he didn't use the original technology simply for authenticity but rather because the original technology was tried and true and could save his life. If I recall correctly when he redid the mythical voyage of the Brendan he made an exception and brought along modern wetsuits to wear in the small boat in the North Atlantic but wearing the wetsuits led to skin problems for the crew so they switched to what the original sailors long ago would have worn - thigh high wool leggings that would help keep them warm even when wet but could breathe so that their skin problems were reduced.

I would trust this video much more if the narrator was actually an Inuit person instead of a person who seems to be from another country located in Europe. I don't want white people talking on behalf of Inuit people or any Indigenous people no matter how smooth and professional is their speaking ability.

@richardthompson3296 Polar bears aren't extinct. You're the only person saying that. Typical tactic of right wing person - Make up something that no expert in the field ever said and then make fun of it. Idiotic behavior.

@itoibo4208 They were well adapted to their environment and relatively comfortable there. Traveling south would have meant competition and likely war with peoples to the south who wouldn't want to give up or even share their territory. Even today lots of people live in colder climates when they could move south without dealing with conflict or war. Lots of people live in the northern United States when they are free to move south any time they want. Lots of people live in Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary when they could live in much warmer Vancouver or Victoria if they wanted to. People live in snowy places in Germany when they almost certainly could legally live on the Mediterranean coast in Spain, France or Italy if they wanted.

I don't believe you and regardless of that if climate change puts enough stress on polar bears their population will decrease and possibly even disappear even if nobody is hunting them. Expert climate scientists and biologists say that climate change poses an immense risk to polar bear populations. I will believe the well educated, trained and experienced experts over some random guy on the internet - every time.
