Canadian government leaders were just in Ukraine to mark the 2nd anniversary of the start of the current invasion and to announce a multi- billion dollar package of assistance to Ukraine and unlike in the United States Canada's leader of the opposition appeared at a Ukrainian Canadian event and explicitly said that if Putin is not stopped in Ukraine then he will continue by invading more countries. And yet, despite the fact that Canada's deputy Prime Minister and possible leader in waiting is of Ukrainian heritage and even at times speaks Ukrainian in the home, Canada has done nothing of note to increase its defence budget or its level of military production. It seems that Canadian politicians have decided that Canadian voters may care about Ukraine but not enough to accept higher government deficits or taxes. If Putin's terrorist forces succeed in conquering Ukraine and then continue further west threatening all of Europe those Canadian politicians and voters will finally realize how wrong they were to oppose higher defense spending and military production. Canada didn't have a lot of military equipment and supplies to offer Ukraine two years ago and still doesn't hsve much other than money to offer and likely in another year still won't have much military equipment and supplies to offer Ukraine. Very short sighted.

  2. ​ @teblack2  Republicans screamed for years that they wanted legislation to make the border more secure and when Democrats produced such legislation Republicans decided to try to block it because Trump told them to block it because he doesn't want Biden to have any more successes. Blocking it has nothing to do with any problems with the legislation. It's the same thing Republicans did when Obama was president and Republicans tried to block anything good from happening. Admittedly including money for Israel while it carries out genocide in Gaza is horrific but Republicans don't care a whit about Palestinians suffering in Gaza so that is definitely not why they are blocking it. It's just to make their cult leader Trump happy and of course Trump for whatever reason he has wants to make his buddy Putin happy on top of hoping to become president and get some kind of immunity from prosecution.
