@cosslogan1043 although Hamilton is a much, much bigger city which is booming as Toronto residents flee to Hamilton to find "cheaper" real estate. And I believe that lately Hamilton real estate has been going up in price faster than even Toronto real estate. Seems that Hamilton like Pittsburg is remaking itself into something new.

In university knew a guy from Gary. Unprompted he said that Gary was the worst city in America except that he put it much more crudely. Successful cities have their problems too though. Cities like Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto and New York that are booming end up with skyrocketing real estate prices becsuse people understandably want to live there. That's fine for those who have money but not so great for those who don't and as as result these cities end up with the problem of many people being homeless because they can't afford rents, let alone the cost of buying a home. Even young professionals sometimes leave these successful cities becsuse being young with no savings they think that they will never be able to save enough money to buy a home and pay a mortgage. Perhaps some sort of middle way city not as booming as San Francisco but not as declining as Gary is best.
