@pjbpiano Adults may be able to ignore what others think of them, especially if those others have no power over them and pose no threat. But virtually every teenager ever worries about what their peers think of them, especially teenagers who are children of immigrants and know that their family may seem strange to their peers in terms of language, accent, food, clothing, religion, etc. Though I think that today, especially in big cities, teenagers are becoming more accepting and supportive of fellow teenagers who come from different backgrounds. (at least in big Canadian cities they are).
