@ArawnOfAnnwn You think that huge countries such as Russia and China are "ringed" by NATO bases? That's amusing. Simple fact: If Russia and China had modern democratic governments which weren't regularly talking about their imperialist ambitions and threatening other countries and stealing territory from other countries then countries near them wouldn't feel the need for protection from imperialist attack and likely wouldn't have asked NATO or the United States to help protect them. Same with South Korea wanting American protection from a constantly aggressive, militaristic, belligerent North Korea.

@ArawnOfAnnwn Ukraine was not in NATO nor was it remotely close to joining NATO. Putin and Russia had various selfish reasons for invading Ukraine but NATO had nothing to do with it. Next you'll be telling us that Egypt should have attacked Tunisia because so many countries were joining NATO even though Tunisia is not in NATO and is not remotely close to joining NATO.

@ArawnOfAnnwn Actually NATO expanding has helped to stabilize Eastern Europe by reducing the chance that countries which joined NATO get attacked by the terrorist imperialist Russian state. The Eastern European countries that asked to join NATO did so specifically to try to avoid being invaded by imperialist Russia and the fewer countries Russia invades the more stable the region is. In the fast few decades Russia has launched at least 7 imperialist invasions into nearby countries but not any of the invasions were into a NATO country. Perhaps if Chechnya, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine had all joined NATO decades ago Imperialist Russia would not have invaded them either and Eastern Europe would have been free of war and much more stable.

@ArawnOfAnnwn The United States alone has three of the four most powerful airforces in the world. And European NATO countries have about as many planes as does Russia. And Russian forces are currently busy just trying to defeat Ukraine. Even if NATO countries didn't send any ground troops to the Baltics any Russian ground troops will have a miserable time suffering overwhelming attacks from NATO planes if they dare to invade the Baltic states. And if NATO countries have anywhere near as many sea drones as does Ukraine and know how to use them any Russian ships in the Baltic Sea will have a very short life span. And of course NATO will know very well in advance if Russia plans to invade a NATO country just as they knew when Russia was going to invade Ukraine.

@red_rabbit31 The people in Chechnya so much wanted to be part of Russia that the Russian military had to launch two barbaric, brutal invasions into Chechnya in which much of Chechnya was destroyed to remind people in Chechnya that they really wanted to be ruled over by Russia and that all those thoughts they had had of being independent must have been absurd fantasies. Russia is the quintessential abusive, controlling, jealous partner.

Why should terrorist imperialist Russia invade Chechnya, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine? Because it is terrorist imperialist Russia and to launch imperialist invasions to steal territory from other countries is in its basic nature.
1
@ArawnOfAnnwn The terrorist imperialist Russian dictatorship doesn't understand diplomacy. It understands only military strength and force.

You're very naive if you think that head terrorist/imperialist Putin is done with his invasions.

I don't know if NATO ships are needed in the Black Sea. If NATO forces are anywhere near as talented as Ukrainian forces are at using sea drones and have the sea drones then no Russian ship travelling anywhere in the Baltic Sea would be safe. Unlike in the case of the Black Sea where Ukrainians often need to send sea drones a long way to get to Russian ships the Baltic Sea is pretty well surrounded everywhere by NATO countries and there would be no safe place for a Russian ship other than perhaps in port. We might be entering an era in which ships are so vulnerable to drone attacks that they are only (possibly) safe and thus useful on the open ocean. Which also makes me wonder how a Chinese invasion fleet targeting Taiwan would do if Taiwan's military developed a "fleet" of sea drones equivalent to what Ukraine has been demonstrating. Even if Chinese troops managed to somehow reach Taiwan in whatever craft they would be riding in they might find that a significant majority of the Chinese warships that were escorting them had been destroyed and that the remaining Chinese warships had to flee for ssfety thus leaving the troops in the Chinese invasion force alone and isolated with no hope of support other than from Chinese jets and no hope of reinforcement. And if Taiwan got a few Patriot systems as well those Chinese troops might find that Chinese jets also had been shot down or forced to flee snd so were of no help to them.

Given that Russian forces are in their third year of their three day special military operation I'm assuming that you are being sarcastic.

@joeschipper6465 American forces defeated the Taliban and drove them from power in about 6 weeks. The fact that they eventually got fed up with waiting for the Afghan military and government to get their act together and so decided to leave doesn't change that. Nice try but you strike out again Russian troll. Actually not even a nice try - more of a sad and pitiful try. Quite amazing that after Soviet disaster in Afghanistan lead to the disintegration of your beloved Soviet Union you Russian trolls still want to talk about Afghanistan.

@Mike-gi2oi So Turkey has decided to leave NATO and all that fuss about Turkey objecting to Sweden joining NATO was a complete waste of everyone's time and energy?
