@AUniqueHandleName444 Perhaps a middle aged peasant living off the land doesn't care about the decline of the Ruble but young educated professionals in major cities in Western Russia won't be happy about it. Many of them already didn't like the crackdown on freedom and democracy in recent years and they certainly aren't happy now since the war started with possibly being conscripted or with finding it harder to travel abroad and now they won't be happy with imported goods becoming more expensive and foreign vacations becoming more expensive.

Russian government says, "We build an expensive missile, fire missile at Ukrainian civilians in a terrorist attack, Ukrainians shoot down our missile and thus our GDP just went up by the money we spent to build, transport and fire the terrorist missile and that makes Russian peasants happy because they see that our GDP is going up and not down".
