@danielhutchinson6604 even if the Russian naval base has provided economic benefits for the Ukrainian region of Crimea I'm pretty sure that Ukraine still doesn't want a Russian naval base on its territory when Russian ships from that base attacked Ukraine and tried to block exports from Ukraine including grain shipments critical to feeding some of the most vulnerable people in the world.

@highvoltagee Russian military strategy seems to involve firing vast numbers of artillery shells. I can't see drones bringing significant numbers of shells to Russian forces in Crimea. I also don't see drones bringing new tanks and other equipment that would gradually be destroyed by Ukrainian missiles. And if the Russian military has struggled to provide decent supplies of food and water to Russian troops in Donbas close to Russia I don't see drones bringing adequate food and water to Russian forces in Crimea, especially if Ukraine cuts off the main water supply to Crimea.

@dalecrocker3213 Russian troll says in one comment that Crimea is very hard to take and in his very next comment says that the Russians took it back from Germany in just a few weeks. Seems he can't get his lies straight. And like a typical Russian troll he forgets that in WW2 it wasn't Russian forces that retook Crimea - it was Soviet forces representing the Soviet Union which of course included Ukraine. We have all seen clearly over the past year that Russia is not the Soviet Union.

Nato needs to stop worrying about avoiding doing things that will make life more difficult for Putin and start trying to do things that will make life more difficult for Putin. I really don't care that Putin is going to be miserable if Ukraine takes all of Crimea and drives away the Russian fleet. That might be just the sort of loss that would get the Russian government to finally clue in and realize that it is a bad idea for them to keep invading other countries to steal territory and once the Russian government has learned that lesson the world will become a much more peaceful place. I think that the Americans have made clear to the Russian government that if it uses nuclear weapons then Russia would face devastating consequences which I'm pretty sure NATO could accomplish without using a nuclear weapon. And from what the experts say I don't see how using a nuclear weapon would be of significant military value to Russia. Russia could use a nuclear weapon to murder Ukrainian civilians but that would be the final straw that would lead not only to a massive response from NATO but also would make other countries turn away from Russia. I suspect that even before Russia tried to use a nuclear weapon China would order the Russian government to not do that.

@peka2478 I'm guessing that Ukraine would be willing to let neutral ferries from trustworthy third countries take civilians to either Ukrainian held territory (eg Odessa) or for those who really want to go there to Russia. (though kidnapping people to Russia would not be acceptable). But Ukraine would want to be absolutely sure the ferries were not taking military supplies to Russian forces in Crimea. I'm afraid that regardless Putin would never agree to let civilians leave Crimea because he would see that as an admission that Crimea was no longer Russian territory. Of course it hasn't been Russian territory in 70 years.

@deroxanlit4181 the most likely way for the Ukrainians to take back Crimea would be to advance to the Black Sea and then with the help of long range Hinar missiles to destroy the illegal Bridge between Crimea and Russia thus cutting off virtually all supplies going to Russian troops in Crimea and in the Kherson region. The Russian army has struggled to supply their troops with adequate food and water even in areas close to Russia and certainly won't be successful in that when Russian supply lines have been cut. On top of that the only advantages the Russians have had are huge supplies of artillery shells and huge supplies of Russian men to replace all the Russian soldiers who are dying. Cut off with basically no new artillery shells or men coming and shortages of food and possibly water the Russian forces in Crimea and in Kherson region would find their situation getting worse and worse and this situation would be aggravated by Ukrainian missile attacks on Russian ammunition supply depots and officer headquarters in those regions. At some point Russian forces in Kherson and in Crimea would collapse or just surrender to avoid getting slaughtered.
