@RabbitShirak In 1979 China launched a disastrous invasion into Vietnam and quickly had to flee Vietnamese forces and left Vietnam. I think China tried to cover up their humiliation by claiming that they had achieved their objectives. Maybe Russia could have done that in March 2022 but it's going to be hard for Russia to try that tactic now, especially as Russian forces have been struggling to try to conquer Donbas since 2014.

@orlandosonicbloom6961 Putin and the Russian military and Russia as a whole have been utterly humiliated by failing miserably in their attempt to quickly conquer Ukraine in days in a special military operation and the Russian military hasn't made a significant advance in well over a year fighting against a much smaller country. Trust me - if Putin had a way to escalate to avoid the daily humiliation he would have done so long ago. Sure he can attack NATO or use a tactical nuclear weapon if he wants to have NATO quickly demolish Russian forces in Ukraine and possibly destroy some Russian military units in Russia but that would be incredibly stupid.

Time for the United States to help Ukraine demolish the section of the bridge on Ukrainian territory (water) with missiles fired from planes over 300 km away. It's not an attack on Russia or on Russian forces. Just helping Ukraine to demolish a bridge inside Ukraine just as every year countries routinely ask experts to demolish bridges on their territory. Russia would have no justifiable reason to object to the Americans helping Ukraine to demolish a bridge in Ukraine. No more than if Argentina asked for American help in demolishing a bridge in Argentina. Then maybe Ukraine might ask for American help in demolishing a certain Ukrainian railway that runs from southern Ukraine in the direction of Russia. Again Russia would have no justification to object to Ukraine demolishing a railway in its own country.

@not_simon6983 Perhaps Ukrainians wouldn't mind if Tatars came back and occupied Crimea. But Russia continuing to occupy Crimea would be a problem because then Ukrainian grain exports would always be at risk of being quickly cut off by Russian aggression.

@DonXardas Imagine NATO invading the region around St Petersburg and kicking out the local Russian citizens and bringing in Polish people and then having a referendum at the point of NATO guns as to whether St Petersburg should leave Russia and join Poland and surprise surprise - the vote is for St Petersburg to join Poland. I take it you will be consistent and agree there would be nothing wrong with that because that is what Russian invaders did in Crimea.

@Meeko2689 I sort of figured that a Russian troll like you getting paid almost worthless Rubles to spout Putin's propaganda would actually listen to what Putin says. Putin has repeatedly suggested that Russia might use nuclear weapons. You know you're going to get in serious trouble if you aren't more careful to listen to what your boss is saying.
