One problem the Russian military has with this strategy is that if weakness occurs somewhere in the Ukrainian lines the Ukrainians can move extra forces there much faster than can the Russians. In the most extreme case imagine if Ukrainian forces started to lose ground around Kherson and Russian forces in Belarus tried to circle through Russia all the way around through Russia to the Kherson area while Ukrainian forces rushed straight south from the border of Belarus to Kherson. Pretty obviously the Russians aren't going to win that race. That's the most extreme case but wherever a weakness in the Ukrainian lines might occur other Ukrainian forces will have a shorter distance to get there than opposing Russian forces.

Where the heck does Russia find 2,000 tanks for one offensive when estimates are that it started the war with 3,300 working tanks and has lost 1,900 to destruction or capture and it certainly needs to keep a significant number of tanks on its border with China and keep some tanks to put down any potential rebellion by a rebellious region and needs to keep some tanks to deal with problems with angry citizens in cities, especially when pushback over conscription could occur? I'm very doubtful that Russia could muster anywhere near 2,000 tanks for an offensive. That is unless they want to haul thousands of non-working tanks out of storage and transport them to the front to sit there motionless to be used as decoys.
