Only a Russian troll would completely contradict themselves in one short sentence and not even realize how ridiculous their comment is. Invading another country such as Ukraine that is peaceful and democratic and has never posed a threat to your country and never will is not defending yourself.

  2. ​ @ablorenz  How many countries put a person in a brutal prison for holding up a blank piece of paper or for calling war a war? How many countries casually send hundreds of thousands of people to die or suffer catastrophic life altering injuries in a completely pointless, unprovoked imperialist invasion into a peaceful neighbouring country and have plans to launch another such invasion into another country following this invasion and then another invasion and then another one, etc? In how many countries with huge resources of oil and gas and other resources do people spend brutally cold winter days and nights freezing with no electricity and no heat for weeks at a time? As the first comment said a person would have to be desperate to decide to go to Russia now.

I saw a video put out by a Palestinian activist who traveled to Moscow to meet one of the biggest supporters of Putin under the delusion that nationalist Russians care about Muslim people and will alongside China will come to rescue Palestinians. Of course the way that Russia treated people in Chechnya and in Syria and in Afghanistan and other places and the way that China treats its Muslim people make clear that Russia and China don't care about Muslim people and are certainly not going to come to rescue Palestinians from the genocide they are suffering. Tragically, there is no cavalry coming to save Palestinians from genocide.

It seemed that Putin had set things up so that it was impossible for anyone to overthrow him but one can imagine that in a country as xenophobic as is Russia bringing in vast numbers of non-Russian immigrants, many of them Muslim, to try to deal with demographic decline could make Putin very unpopular and lead to the overthrow of Putin. Certainly in other countries nationalist leaders/demagogues talk only about cutting immigration because they know what their base wants to hear.
