I believe that over a century ago when the predecessor of the NHL had just 4 or 5 teams one team owner was disliked by the other team owners but they didn't know how to kick him out of the league due to legal restrictions on doing that so the other team owners each quit the league and then immediately formed the new NHL league but did not invite the unliked owner to join. The unliked owner was still in the old league but was left all by himself. Maybe the European Union members should each leave the EU and then form a new similar organization without Hungary (and maybe without Poland too) and make sure that the new organization has better rules so that if a demagogue gets elected in a member country he/she can't veto everything the organization wants to do. NATO members might consider a similar maneuver to get rid of Turkey. Of course replacing the EU or NATO with a new organization is a lot more complicated than creating a new hockey league with only 4 teams.

@JesterEric there must be some part of Poland that Germany lost at the end of of WW1 and/or WW2 and some Germans might want back. The idea of countries trying to seize back lost territory might not be a good precedent for Poland to set. I think that the reason why Europe has been so peaceful since 1945 is that countries that spent centuries attacking each other to get back territory they lost in the previous war stopped doing that. I think it's best if all European countries avoid any thoughts of getting back territory they lost in the past. And that goes true for the rest of the world as well.

Strange thing that Hungary is the country going towards authoritarianism. My impression in the 1970s was that Hungary was one of the most liberal places in the Eastern Bloc at the time. Didn't Hungary cause the end of the iron curtain by removing restrictions on Hungarians and other Eastern European citizens crossing out of Hungary into western Europe?
