One of the latest headlines from DW News says " Rise of anti American and pro Russain party in Germany" . Why is that important? Well, historicly, very single military alliance ended. From the middle east, to Europe, to Asia, and although we see NATO as something that will last forever, there is no guarantee of that. If Greenland stays in the hands of Europeans, and in the future 50 years plus, they decide to form their own military alliance, or just flat out join an alliance that is a rival to the US, we're gonna be whishing that we owned Greenland. Our kids and grandkids will find themselves fighting another cold war, but this one will be far closer to the US mainland than the previous one. I know none of us today thinks that NATO will falter, just like Romans, or Russians never thought that their alliances would end. Passing on Greenland will come back to bite us in the butt far sooner than we think. And again, we do have good relations with Europe now, but will we in 100 years? Only a fool would be optimistic about that.
