  127. 27:30 My ex use to complain to her friends and family about my not helping around the house as much as she wanted. She would act like her "career" was just as important to the household as mine. Here's what she never mentioned whilst complaining. 1. I paid all the household bills, maintained the vehicles, did all the yard work and performed all home repairs, from hanging photos to replacing failed plumbing. When it snowed, I was the one going out early to warm the car up, clear the snow off her windows and shovel a path from the door to her vehicle. 2. Her "career" earned less than 1/8th my annual income. If she lost her job, it would have minimal impact on the household budget. If I lost my job, we would all be homeless. We had way more to lose if I wasn't able to focus on my career. 3. "Our" kid was her son from a prior relationship. Before she met me, she cooked all her own meals, cleaned her own apartment and did the laundry for herself and her child. Sure... being in a 4 bedroom house requires more cleaning than a 2 bedroom apartment, but not that much... and adding me to the meals and laundry chores that she was already doing for herself and her kid is not that big of an ask. In exchange for doing those minor things for me, she got to live in a large 4 bedroom home located in an excellent school district FOR FREE and was able to work the job she wanted rather than the one that made her the most money. So yeah... most women complaining about men typically leave out a LOT of important information.

  130. I have been working in Healthcare IT for going on 25 years. 15 years ago I helped develop a module to a Healthcare Information System that ran business rules in the background to identify inpatients who were at risk for readmission. When a patient gets readmitted to hospital within a time period after being discharged, Medicare won't reimburse for it. So readmissions cost facilities money. So we did that. We created a program that virtually eliminated all readmission. That then evolved to identifying people who were at risk for undiagnosed conditions. We did that too. We had a high efficiency rate of identifying patients who were at risk for a cardiac event, sepsis, glycemia and a whole slew of other conditions with a high morbidity rate. We did this by creating algorithms that analyzed trends based off of a combination of vitals, diagnostic test results and nursing notes. The recent buzz word for this is "AI", but there is nothing new about it. Flash forward to today... and we don't need doctors anymore. They aren't necessary. Computers now create a decisions tree that recommends diagnostics based on the health complaint of a patient, or the observations of the NP or PA, then diagnose disease based on the results of those tests and will even spit out a treatment plan to follow. Nurse Practitioners and PAs are just specialized information collectors. Someone who can make observations, ask the right questions and then document it all in a computer system. Here's the rub... these systems can be programmed to maximize revenue by ordering tests that are part of the computer generated treatment protocol, but may not be necessary. For example, you go in to hospital with a broken femur. They already know the femur is broken from the xray, but the protocol allows for a CT Scan to be done in certain circumstances. They order the CT Scan as well. Not because its necessary, but because the protocol says they can... and doing so increases revenues. So yeah... thats why you can't see a doctor anymore unless you are really really REALLY sick. The cost to value ratio just doesn't support it because they have mostly been replaced by AI.

  301. A few years back I was friends with a young lady from work who was awesome in every way and who I totally would have hitched my wagon to... if it weren't for her being about 50 pounds overweight. Inevitably we had the conversation and I told her exactly how I felt... that I was in to her but that her poor physical condition killed the romantic feelings. I then added that we could do physical activities together to improve her health, if she was willing. She was gracious but I could tell she was very upset... and so that was the end of our friendship. A year later I was walking through a store and saw a drop dead gorgeous tall blonde walking towards me in the opposite direction. It was her. She had lost the extra weight and replaced the flab with toned muscle. Not exaggerating... she went from a 4 to a solid 9. She recognized me and stopped to chat. I told her that I was proud of her for taking her health more seriously. She admitted she did it to get revenge on me at first, but after she started working out, she realized how much better she felt... and that I was right. So yeah... if you care about someone you have to be honest with them. The consequences may suck, but doing the right thing is one of the ways we maintain our character. I also find it odd that women are more apt to do something that benefits them when revenge is the motivation. Why can't they just do things because its in their self interest? Why is it that they immediately disregard feedback from men as sexist? Its crazy.

  330. Exactly. My ex couldn't understand why I was not willing to afford a 50 acre horse farm in a high end area. She saw my paychecks. She knew I made significantly more than she did and assumed it was enough to afford it. I showed her the budget required for such a property... down payment, mortgage, insurance, property tax etc.. I then showed her our current combined income for comparison. The annual property tax alone exceeded her annual income. The cost of owning such a property would have left us with zero money for things like utilities, food, automobiles etc.. I suggested we look the next county over because the costs would be halved. She flipped out because it was not her preferred location. After having the discussion with her multiple times over many months, I finally let the truth bomb fly. I told her that I adored her, but the reality is she was a cute 36 year old single mother who makes $12 per hour. She was not a "high end horse farm" woman. She wasn't even an "abandoned dairy farm in the next county" woman. I then reminded her that she didn't know how to ride a horse, much less care for one. She pouted about it for about a month when I decided it was time to bounce. In the end, I bought the abandoned dairy farm... which ended up being included in the high end farm area during lockdowns and is now worth seven times what I paid for it. If she had allowed me to lead, she would be sitting very nicely on her dream farm and could have quit her job to spend the rest of her days hanging out there. Moral of the story... Never allow a woman to have influence over your financial decisions. Ever.

  342. Its great when a woman is fiscally responsible enough to have a good job. However, I doubt she "owns" her house and her car. My guess is she has taken on debt for those things... and chances are she has those things because she has children from some dude that is paying her child support. Thats not really my point though. My point is that most men wouldn't even be considered for a date if they didn't have those things.... and so what is the plan if you date for a while and decide to move in together? Who is moving out of their home? Yeah... probably the man... and even if he doesn't sell that home right away, she inevitably will start to pressure him to do so. She'll say its unnecessary. She'll say two houses is a burden, even if its you maintaining it. She'll say that you both should sell your individual houses to buy a much nicer one in a nicer neighborhood so her kids can go to a better school. What she really means is that your house is an asset that she has no claim to in court because you acquired it before hitching your wagon to her. What she really means is that she wants you to help her get her kids from another man in to better schools. What she really means is that much nicer house in a nice neighborhood that she has her eyes on will likely cost more than the value of both the homes you are selling and so your income and good credit score is required to get a loan for it. Of course after acquiring said nicer home it fancy neighborhood, she'll need a nicer car... because she doesn't want to appear as the "poors" of the neighborhood. She'll want new furniture to furnish it as well. She'll make new friends of course, so a membership at the country club will be required. ... and guess who will be required to keep paying all those loans during and after the divorce? You will be, my friend. You will. I've seen this happen to an Uncle, one of his sons and several of my buddies. Its the only way they can move up the social ladder. It has to be at your expense, because they could never do it themselves.

  771. Same. I once tried to explain to my sibling that the cloth mask she was wearing... at dinner when it was not required... is rated to filter out particles up to 3 microns in size and the crud19 average size is .5 microns. Personally I don't care if she wants to look like an idiot. However, she was making my niece wear one and I felt bad for her. My sibling lost her shit and started screaming about how so and so's uncle died blah blah blah and that I am full of sh&t. Never mind I have a masters degree in microbiology. Never mind that I worked at the CDC for two years and had to go PPE training every six months. Never mind she has a GED and doesn't know what a micron is. I love my sibling... but its difficult being around someone who is so easily manipulated and who chooses to trust some unknown propagandist than her own brother... who happens to be qualified to speak on the matter. I lost a good friend because his wife told me that "the science" showed that removing children from public schools to be home schooled was just as abusive to the child as denying a sick child healthcare. She also felt that all home schooled children should be removed from their parents care by the State. I asked her to name the title and author of these studies. <crickets> I then asked her what the population was for the study. <frowny face> I told her that we were going to have to agree to disagree. She stormed off screaming that I am a misogynist and how dare I question her 30 years of experience (as a school counselor). I apologized to my buddy for upsetting his wife and left. Haven't spoken to them since.

  832. I like him, but I have concerns. He's pro choice, which weighs heavily in my equation. I feel that abortion as contraception is unnecessary in a society that takes personal responsibility seriously. Oh... and its murder which last I checked is no bueno. He is also an environmentalist who wants to curb "mining, logging, oil drilling, and suburban sprawl". As a rural resident who farms, I need to know more about how he plans to go about that. His actions could have serious implications to my livelihood and way of life. The federal government is known to mismanage forests to the point of instigating wildfires and habitat destruction. For example, I was just given notice that my land and a large chunk of my area is being considered for a federal wildlife refuge. Sounds great. Protect this beautiful place from development. Right? Well..... this comes with incredibly stringent EPA regulations that would severely limit the use of my land, require costly "improvements" that otherwise would be considered unnecessary and could ultimately result in the area losing thousands of acres of prime farm land. For what? To turn it in to a public park for citiots to trash? Just look at what happened to Salt Lake over the Fourth of July holiday. So they would take away generational farms that can never be replaced... forever altering the lives of me, my children, my grandchildren and all future generations in my family.... in order to mismanage land that is already properly managed and to allow "the people" to trash it. No thanks. So those are my concerns. There are likely others but its too early to tell yet.

1117. Farmer here. Here's the thing about vertical farming indoors. 1. Property costs way more in urban areas. Not just the cost to purchase, but property taxes and cost of doing business are much higher as well. 2. Vertical farming is resource and inputs intensive. It requires LOTS of electricity and nutrients for the plants to grow. These inputs are way more expensive in urban areas and still require transport in and out of the location. When vertical farming experienced high growth, energy and inputs were cheap. They are no longer cheap. 3. Water use and treatment in urban areas is insanely expensive when you are talking about large scale operations like this. Using city tap water for irrigation is no good because chlorine and other treatments must be removed before using in vertical farming irrigation. Massive filtration is required. Not so in traditional farming. 4. Pests are still a problem in vertical farms. A traditional farm may see localized infestation that impacts only a portion of the crop and then spot spray it to mitigate. Most vertical farm infestations will spread throughout the enclosed space very quickly and destroy an entire crop in days. I am not bashing vertical farming at all. I am just saying its deployment in urban areas paired with the higher costs of production doomed it to failure. There is a way to correct these issues and make vertical farming more sustainable. For example, locating the vertical farms near a source of flowing water and placing new generation low flow water turbines along a river or tidal area can provide sustainable, consistent energy for production. Old steel manufacturing sites along the many rivers in the midwest, mid atlantic and north east would be excellent locations. The land is often sitting dormant and so its cheaper and available. They are often located along a flowing water source for both electricity and irrigation and almost all have rail connections for transporting inputs and produce. I still think focusing efforts on more efficient distribution of farm products would be a better spend, but we do need to think about how to efficiently grow food during periods of significant climate cycles like pole shifts, grand solar minimums and the like. In my mind those are the problems that can be solved with vertical farming, yet do not seem to be part of the conversation.

1126. My experience... I owned a second house in an up and coming market down south. One my friend's kids said she wanted to move to that area for a job, so I made her an offer. She can rent my house at market price. I would calculate the difference between my costs and the rent and then put half away for her to use as a down payment should she want to buy it. If she decided to buy it, I would be her lender through a land contract or she can acquire her own financing. She was thrilled so I drew up the rental agreement and we shook hands on it. Her father witnessed. Six months later I call her up and tell her that I am in town and need to swing by to change the furnace filters etc.. I can tell she is freaking out a bit, but she tells me she will meet me there the next day. The next day? Are you out of town? Long story short... she had sublet my house (not allowed in the lease) to people she didn't really know in order to move in with her boyfriend who lived in a basement one bedroom apartment. The people she rented to had thrown away some stuff that I had stored in the basement (part of the agreement) and had five large dogs in the house. The place was trashed. Holes in walls, cracked ceramic tile, the wood stove had obviously over burned multiple times, heart pine floors were scratched and gouged etc.. I had to go through the process of eviction even though they didn't have a lease. All said and done, it cost me $10k to evict the people and repair all the damage. Here's the kicker... this girl turns around and sues me for the money I said I would pitch in if she had bought the place. When I talked to her father about all this, he just shrugged and told me "that was between you and her." Irony is that house is now worth over twice what I paid for it. That kid could have accrued a lot of wealth if she had just kept her end of the agreement. So yeah... not helping any youngen any more. They can scratch and claw same as I did.

1308. The problem with making cuts to Medicare and Social Security is that you have tens of millions of adults in their late 40s to early 60s who have been working off the assumption that social security and medicare will be part of their retirement plan... and its too late for them to make any major adjustments to that plan. For example... I am 54. Although I receive a social security statement every year that tells me that I will receive payments of several thousand per month in retirement, I have ignored this and saved as though that money would not be part of the equation. However, most people my age included that money in to their retirement planning, causing them to save less and spend more of their residual income on consumer products and services through their working years. With just eleven years left before retirement (assuming they retire at age 65) and their prime earning years behind them, making huge cuts to social security and medicare would require them to quickly accumulate about $250k in savings or face being left with a huge gap between retirement savings and their monthly household budgets. I don't know many people who can sock away $250k in ten years time. Not without committing a crime that is. Basically cutting social security would be pulling the rug out from under the feet of tens of millions of middle aged adults... and you can't really blame them for being pissed considering that they had been reassured their entire adult lives that social security would be there for them. Its not their fault that the government mismanaged that program. As for the consequences of cutting social security... we would end up with a ton of elderly people still in the work force past age 65 doing jobs that would typically be performed by youngens who are looking to enter the work force and earn a paycheck. We would end up with a lot of unemployed youngens or a lot of destitute old folks. Maybe both. I don't know the answer to this conundrum, but the longer folks keep pretending that social security will be there for them when they retire, the harsher the consequences will be.

1350. 3:15 My ex decided to tell me she was going to hang out at a bar all day with her friends from work. I told her this was not recommended. She told me she didn't need my permission. My response was "true... you don't... but actions have consequences. " She went anyway. After she left, I called her brother (who I had become good friends), to tell him that she and her son (single mom) would be moving out and will likely be showing up at his door the next day. He asked what was going on, so I gave him the play-by-play. He thanked me for calling and said he would handle it from there. He found out what bar she was at, drove two hours to go fetch her and brought her back to the house to start packing. Every time she opened her mouth to say something to me, he told her "shut the Fock up and pack". True to his word, he handled it. Lessons: 1. When engaging with a woman, get to know her primary male influence. If they see you as a good man... and they are a good man themselves... they'll respect you and will back you up. If she has no male influence, or that male influence is not a good man, don't get involved with her to begin with. 2. Pick your battles wisely, draw the lines clearly and be fully prepared to walk away when she crosses one. 3. Never EVER get so intertwined with a woman... emotionally or financially... that walking away is not an option. Obviously hard to accomplish if there are children involved, but there are steps that can be taken in advance to protect your interests. 4. Don't argue with her. Ever. If she crosses a boundary, just move on. If there is a conflict where no boundary has been crossed , then don't waste your energy by arguing about it.

1365. I hear you. I do woodworking as a side hustle and make custom hard wood slabs with my portable sawmill. These are 12 to 32 inch wide slabs a minimum 2 inches thick cut from maple, black walnut, hickory and oak tree stumps and short cut waste that loggers left in my woods well before I bought my property. It was all just laying around rotting, so I decided to grab them, saw them up and see if I could sell some. At first I tried selling them on FB market place, CL and through local consignment, but I was constantly told that my prices were too high... that they could get the same from Home Depot for way less. Even though I knew these people were full of it, I also found this very discouraged... until I realized that I was trying to sell to the wrong market. I had completely given up on it until one day I was talking to a buddy of mine who is in commercial construction about it. He immediately put me in touch with a builder of custom homes who was looking for anything unique that would make his homes stand out. Long story short, that builder has been buying my products regularly for over seven years. I recently sold him a pallet full of 6 foot long, 18 inch deep and 4 inch thick spalted maple slabs. Next week he is going to pick up about 1,000 board feet of mulberry lumber I custom cut from logs he had delivered by a tree service. No idea what he is going to use them for, but whoever buys the house they are going in to will have a one of a kind home. Oh... and that same builder got me in touch with his realtor who likes to give his clients very nice housewarming gifts. His favorite things to buy from me are the timber framed garden benches and white oak Adirondack chairs. Point being... don't give up just yet. You just need to find your market niche.

1376.  @R0CKETMVNTV  False. Per the 2025 INTERNATIONAL Classification of Disease (ICD-10) "Diagnosis Code F84.0 - Autistic disorder Clinical Summary: A disorder beginning in childhood. It is marked by the presence of markedly abnormal or impaired development in social interaction and communication and a markedly restricted repertoire of activity and interest. Manifestations of the disorder vary greatly depending on the developmental level and chronological age of the individual. " Point being, it is internationally recognized as an ailment identified as a disorder rather than a disease. Since you haven't bothered to look it up, I will provide you with the difference between a disorder and a disease. A disorder refers to an irregularity or disturbance in physical, mental, or psychological functioning. Disorders frequently lack a uniform cause and often involve multiple factors. Mental health examples include anxiety or bipolar disorder, while physical disorders encompass conditions like irritable bowel syndrome or scoliosis. A disease represents an abnormal condition negatively affecting the structure or function of an organism. It’s often associated with specific symptoms and identifiable causes like pathogens, genetics, or environmental factors. For instance, diseases like tuberculosis result from bacterial infections, while genetic diseases like cystic fibrosis arise from DNA mutations. Summary: A disease is an AILMENT that can be attributed directly to a cause where as a disorder is an AILMENT that lacks uniform cause or a cause that has yet to be discovered.

1447. Saw where some lefty journo demanded that his pals go out in to rural areas and start burning stuff down. He mentioned that most rural areas don't have police or full time fire fighters and so his pals could do their damage with impunity. First off... 97 percent of the country's land mass is rural with 20% of the US population living there. I hope they have lots of matches as well as alternative way to charge up their electric car. Secondly... it is true that many rural communities do not have police. The reason why is that an extremely high number of rural residents have served in the military. An equally large number of rural residents also hunt. Not just with a bolt action rifle, but with shotguns, compound bows and crossbows. Some even hunt with high powered hand guns, bowie knives and sling shots just for a challenge. Paintball and airsoft tournaments as well as skeet and long distance target shooting is a favorite past time for the youngens. Point being... rural areas don't have police because we country folks don't need them very often. However, the reason for that is we can handle most sitchyations ourselves. You see, we don't often hold beef with our neighbors because we depend on each other for everything from a spare cup of sugar to having a neighbor's back as trespassers are escorted off private property. Aside from the fact that country folk are armed to the teeth, skilled in using their personal protection devices and are accustomed to helping each other out, most have lots of acreage at their disposal and either own, or know someone who owns, a backhoe. Think about that for a minute. As a resident of a rural area, as well as an upstanding citizen of these United States with a spotless criminal record, my advice to any lefty considering going in to the country to do harm to person or property is... That is an option... but it is not recommended.

1608. Not sure why you would talk to an economist at a University. They have no clue what is going on in the real world. Here is what is really going on... Many families have scaled back to one income because their children's school has either mandated jabs, which the parents refuse to do, or have turned to remote classes, which gives the parents no choice but to stay home with them. Upon doing so they quickly realize that reducing to one income lowers their income tax bill, eliminates work related costs such as parking, eliminates the need for a second vehicle that entails insurance, inspection and maintenance and because a parent is home, there is no daycare required which can cost upwards of $600 per month. Many have been fired because of work place jab mandates and are receiving unemployment while others have taken advantage of inflated home prices to downsize and consolidate, which enables them to cut back to part time or contract work. I myself was fired from my job for not being jabbed, even though I was previously infected and have natural immunity. I initiated my retirement plan fifteen years earlier than planned. Luckily I have other streams of income that can sustain me until I am eligible for social security pension, though my budget is way tighter than I had hoped for. I can always do 1099 contract work if I need to. The reality is that people have realized they were being screwed and have decided to change the game. I applaud each and every one of them for it. There is no sense in killing ourselves for scraps whilst corporations make billions in profits.

1750.  @opeyemiajibola8824  Actually very accurate. I have three sisters. Two of them are single mothers. Both of them chose their baby daddies. They chose very poorly. Both had good men try to be a partner to them as well as be a father figure to their children, but my sisters found reasons to reject them. Both treat men like ATM machines. Both expected my father and I to pay their bills, fix their shit, be a father figure (when it was convenient for them) and clean up their messes. I used to participate in this out of love for my nieces and nephews but got tired of being taken for granted. Our Dad is feeling it as well. So yeah. There are some exceptions, but being a single mother is a choice. A very bad choice that good men are increasingly unwilling to accept and take responsibility for. "Diva" here seems to have come to this realization... and although I am sure she is a very nice person, I am betting she has had more than a few good men try to hitch their wagon to hers... yet she rejected them. Maybe she felt she could do better. Maybe she didn't want to share "family" decisions with an "outsider". I am 20 years her senior and I wouldn't consider her a viable partner for that reason alone. Due to her history of poor decisions, I would require that I have final say on what goes on in my home... and I doubt she would be willing to accept that. Especially when it pertains to her kid. Don't care how attractive she might be. Don't care how kind and wonderful. Inviting a single mother in to an otherwise serene and financially stable household is a high risk proposition for men... especially when considering those men and their relationship with them would be at best fifth in her list of priorities.

1866. My employer of ten years "eliminated my position" two months ago. I was prepared. I have no debt, house and truck are paid for, I am not married and have no children with plenty of savings. I was getting interest almost immediately after filing for unemployment, but all were offering much less than I was making at my last job. This at a time where inflation is soaring. The kicker... unemployment told me I HAD to accept one of these lower paying positions or I would not receive unemployment checks. I declined. F that. I got in touch with an agency who connects experienced folks with contract engagements. No benefits, but I pick and choose which contracts I accept. So far I've turned down three contract offers because they wanted me to provide my 25 years of experience for peanuts. Nah I'm good. My agent tells me that my talents are in very high demand. If that is the case, then why are they low balling me on pay? I am going to make this very clear. I am not allergic to work. I rather enjoyed the work that I did and was darn good at it. That's why I did it for 25 years. I just refuse to do so for low wages... because I don't have to... and my "self esteem" will not allow it. I have plenty of other things I would rather do that can be scaled up and monetized than slaving for some corporation who is trying to milk me for a bump in their stock value. When these people come to their senses and offer me fair compensation for the value that I provide, then I will consider going back to work. Until then I will no longer participate in this sham of an economy. They will get no additional income tax dollars from me. I will not spend a penny on anything that isn't absolutely necessary. I'm out.

2012. Every country has good and bad aspects to them. Same with the United States. The major difference between the US and other countries is that we have the right... and duty... to openly criticize our local, state and federal governments. We also have the right and duty to protect ourselves... as individuals as well as a country. Our 1st and 2nd amendments of our constitution tells us so. We criticize our own country not because we hate it... but because we love it and see lots of room for improvement. We own guns because we have that right and want to protect ourselves, our families and our country if necessary. The other aspect is that most people outside of the US only see our cities like Chicago and assume they depict the entire country. The cities in the US are an absolute mess right now and are very different from the rest of the country. They are where criminals, homeless and those with mental disorders congregate because of the concentration of resources and services available there. Outside of the cities, things are very different. I live in a rural area where there are no fences, gates or barbed wire. Heck I don't even lock my door when I leave the house half the time. I have dogs, but they are for protecting my lambs from predators. They might protect me as well, but that is not their purpose. I guess it is odd for people outside of the US to understand the relationship We the People seem to have with our own country. Its not the country we have a problem with. Its the people leading it and it is our duty to hold them accountable. Example... the governor of california taking billions of tax dollars to address homelessness only to have the problem get worse rather than better. He is at best a failure and at worst has stolen that money. Either way it needs correcting... and the People of California need to handle that because their homeless citizens need them to.

2014. 14:30 I have to disagree with your assessment of the American Dream. If the American Dream was dead, then why do so many immigrants still come here? I think what is dead is realistic expectations and a willingness to work for it. Anyone who thinks that boomers started out by owning a 5 bedroom McMansion in the city is insane. My parents started out with a 2 bedroom townhome in a sketchy area. When I, their third child, came along they decided to buy a lot in a nicer area and then ordered a three bedroom home kit from Sears Roebuck that they constructed themselves with the help of friends and family. The only trades involved were the brick layers who set the foundation. My Dad still lives in that house. My own first house was purchased in my early 30s. It was a three bedroom shithole that I bought at sheriff's auction and renovated myself with help from friends. It was so nasty that I slept on a cot inside a tent in the living room to insure that I wouldn't end up snuggling with mice during the night. My current home is a 4 bedroom farm house on 53 acres built in the 1870s. The house was condemned at the time of the sale and I... once again... have renovated it myself. I think the only generation who actually had their first homes basically handed to them were Millennials. The rest of us had to come up with 30% down and then paid 10+ percent interest on 15 year loans until the rates dropped and we were able to refinance. The American Dream is still alive and well but you gotta put in the work to realize it. Nobody going to hand it to you.

2045. Yep its a complete scam. I also attended a large midwestern university and when I attended politcal science 101 (a required course for my major) the professor told those in attendance to NOT buy the $250 book. He said he had printed out his syllabus and notes from his lectures which were also available at the bookstore for $5 an that he recommended we purchase those instead. So that is what all in attendance did. Unfortunately my friend had gotten a jump on her book purchases and had already acquired the book based on the information provided on her class schedule. She attempted to return it to the book store and was told they would not allow her to return the book as it was due to be replaced by a new edition the following semester. So basically the school knew the book would be replaced and stated it was required for the class on the schedule anyway. No warning that it was non refundable and not eligible for resale. The professor left the University after that class completed. I later ran in to him and asked why. He said the school was upset that he hadn't required the purchase of the book and refused to renew his adjunct contract. Why was the school mad about it? Well... apparently they get kickbacks based on the sale of these books. At one time you had to attend a University to gain knowledge... but that is no longer the case. You can learn the same information off of YouTube and other web sites. Attending University and obtaining a degree today is nothing more than buying a membership to the high paying jobs club.

2108. To understand what is going on, you have to think like a Globalist. They used to see human labor as a commodity... an asset required for their enterprises. No humans used to mean no minerals out of the ground, food being grown or widgets being manufactured. More humans used to mean more production which led to more profits. This is why slavery is a thing. More production at less cost equates to higher profit. As human labor is replaced by AI driven automation, its value tanks and transitions from asset to liability. They don't have to feed robots or give them breaks. AI doesn't require a middle management layer, compensation or sleep... so they now need to reduce their human labor liability to maximize profit. Problem is, "natural attrition" of a huge number of human laborers takes time and eats in to profits. Sure there are ways to support them at lower cost while they wait for them to die (see Gates Foundation for options). Most globalists would rather get them off their books faster. This is where feminism, abortion, reduction of fertility rates, drug epidemics, designer viruses and war comes in to play. This unnatural attrition is tricky business though. If they create a virus that kills off too many humans, they won't have enough of them to support an economy. Maybe they are aware of another market to sell to? If they start a war there is a risk that another globalist will take sides against them (see every single major human conflict since the beginning of human civilization). Quite the conundrum the masters... errr... globalists find themselves in. Meanwhile human laborers sit and wait to learn our fate. Its like corporate downsizing on a global scale except there will be no severance package or unemployment benefits. To avoid being included in this "attrition", you need to find a way to become an "essential worker" on the QT... or hope to God that some of the Globalists care about human life more than profits and will support a major push back.

2130. I too am very conflicted about this. Universal healthcare would absolutely benefit me and many of the people I know. The problem is that I don't trust the Federal government. At all. Most especially considering how they are handling jab mandates. I know Jimmy feels that this would have saved may lives... but I am not convinced. Imagine if there was universal healthcare under the current administration. Would the same number of hospitals / beds have existed? If there were more ventilators available, would they have killed more people at the start? Would that have changed their decision about using Ivermectin... or would they have still made it unavailable? Would they have mandated that we all get the jab under threat of losing our healthcare coverage? Right now I have a doctor who is in private practice who is 100% looking out for my best interests. Under Universal Healthcare, they become an employee of the Federal Government... and therefore must abide by Federal Government policies. No Ivermectin. No monoclonal antibodies. No alternative treatments. After the experiences of the last two years, I am going to say that allowing the government to have more control over me and my healthcare decisions would not be a good thing. This government is bloated and corrupt as it is... and it would absolutely get worse if they had complete control of healthcare in our country. On the flip side, I absolutely want healthcare coverage extended to my friends and neighbors who currently don't have it. So what is the solution? A thought... since health and well being of the citizenry is up to the State, then perhaps we look to the States to put it in place.

2202. Modern public schools are: 1. A product of industrialists / capitalists... initiated by JP Morgan and John D Rockefeller... whose intent is to control what children learn and indoctrinate them early on towards following orders / servitude rather than free thought and learning. Their various foundations continue this work to this day. The end game being to create and maintain a class of cheap laborers. This is not a conspiracy theory. Just read the mission statements of these foundations. Its public knowledge. It also does not stop at primary school. These foundations have employees sitting on the boards of every major institution of higher learning in the world. 2. Are ineffective at teaching the basic concepts of learning independently. They want to control the knowledge our children receive. From sex education to religion to self reliance and self learning. All geared towards the ideology and goals of the 1%. 3. Are therefore a complete waste of tax payer money as well as yet another subsidy to global corporations. I've been saying this for years... you don't need wealth for your children to grow up well educated. All you need is to keep them the hell out of the public school system and guide their learning at home. You can impart more knowledge in two hours than a public school will in an entire week because there are no distractions, no filters and no bias in their learning. No drugs or gangs either. If you lack the confidence to teach your children at home, get together with other like minded individuals who are all willing to pitch in some cash to hire a private teacher who can guide the learning for you. Its what communities used to do in the old days before public schools.

2235. I have no idea what the point of this conversation is. Help me sort this out. Fact 1: People with higher credit scores pay a lower rate... both for mortgage loans and for private mortgage insurance... because they are considered a lower risk to the lender. Less risk to the lender equates to less risk to the private mortgage insurer. Point 2: Most cases, an 80% loan to value ratio must be achieved in order to avoid private mortgage insurance. In other words, your loan can be for no more than 80% of the appraised value of the home. There must be 20% equity when the loan is written. That 20% gap is typically covered by the down payment, though there are other ways to bridge it. So is Maxine saying that requiring private mortgage insurance is unfair? That people without 20% down payment should get subsidies from the government? They already do... its called the First Time Home Buyer program through the FHA and VA. The only way a person would not be eligible for an FHA loan is if they already own a home or their credit score is below 500. 580 is required for 3% down and considered very high risk. If you have a 580 credit core, that means you have defaulted on loans in the past seven years. Even if you have a credit score below 580, you can still get a loan if your credit score is 500 - 579 with a 10% down payment. So yeah.... Maxine is wrong saying that people with good credit scores are getting priced out because of PMI. The problem here is not unfairness. The problem is inflation paired with people not wanting to sacrifice and work harder in order to own a home. Just like those idiots who agreed to pay X amount for a college degree and then decide they shouldn't have to pay it back. Same people.

2257. I think its really important to understand what the marginal tax rate issue is all about. What Marginal Rate means is that income is taxed at levels (aka brackets) rather than a flat rate. For example, lets say the first $20,000 is taxed at a rate of 10%... or $2,000. Everyone who earns $20,000 that year gets taxed that amount on that money. For those who earn $20k or less, thats it. If you earn $30k that year, then the first $20k is taxed at 10% and then the remaining $10k is taxed separately at say 15%... or $1500... for a total tax bill of $3,500. So one of the ways that the wealthy avoid paying taxes are called tax shelters. Tax shelters are any method of reducing taxable income resulting in a reduction of the payments to tax collecting entities, including state and federal governments. The most common ways to shelter your money from taxes are placing it in tax exempt retirement accounts, starting a business, placing money in to a health savings account, dependent care account or education fund or purchasing municipal bonds. There are many options to choose from when it comes to tax shelters. All it takes is a bit of money to afford an accountant who is good at it. The money you spend on the accountant will be paid back exponentially in tax savings. That's the rub though. Poor people don't have spare money to leverage tax shelters. Nor can they afford an accountant. So when talking about taxes and who pays what... don't just talk about marginal tax rate. Also consider Effective tax rate... or the average rate paid on gross earnings. That is where the true story is. You will find that the effective tax rate of most corporations and very wealthy people are actually quite low. In some cases, corporations with billions in revenue end up paying zero tax on that money.

2281. If in fact these stories are true, then these men should be prosecuted for fraud... but logic tells me that something does not add up. What British man would spend the money to repeatedly travel to India, make the effort to go through the courtship and family introductions, participate in a marriage ritual (which in India could take up to a week)... all for a couple thousand of pounds in Dowry!?!? There is more to this story than what is being presented. As for the people who say Dowry should be outlawed. I live in the US and will not consider marriage unless a dowry and a prenuptial agreement is part of the deal. Why? Because in the US a man has no rights when it comes to marriage and the family. His wife can do as she pleases... cheat, steal and do drugs, terminate pregnancy... without consequence and the man will forever be on the hook for her financial support as well as lose access to his children. She can legally can have him removed from his own home, make him continue to pay to mortgage and then invite another man to sleep in his bed... and he has no recourse. She can ruin his life with false accusations of abuse if she wants as well. No proof or convictions necessary. A dowry is not paying a man to take your daughter. Like an engagement ring from a man, it is a sign of commitment. For as long as the two are married, the money is for the family. Its shared and used to start the family home. If the marriage dissolves, the man keeps the money to offset his expenses of having to find a new wife... just as western women get to keep their engagement rings. If women wish for Dowry to be abolished, then the requirement of an expensive engagement ring at the time of a marriage proposal should also be abolished as it is the same thing. The difference is that dowry benefits both man and woman in a happy marriage whereas the engagement ring does not.

2285. These CBS fools blaming men for this are clueless tools. The men who have checked out of the job market did so because they refuse to be slaves for women and corporations. Women who say they don't need a man but will baby trap him for half or more of his paycheck and then bounce. Corporations whose leaders are making 1,000+ times the average worker and hire based on gender and skin color rather than qualifications and experience... making the skilled and experienced workers pick up the slack while getting paid the same or less. Nosir... this is not a man issue. Good men know their worth... and until they start receiving what they are worth, from their jobs as well as the women in our society, then they are out. Gents... don't listen to the idiots who tell you to consume aka taking on debt to buy things you don't need. Live way below your means. Do NOT take out debt unless doing so earns you more than you pay in interest. The only people a nice house and new car are going to impress are the ones who want to have it without earning it and wish to take it away from you. Its all a trap. I'm 53 and I didn't figure this out until I was in my 40s. I wish someone would have told me this much sooner. My small house is in a rural area with a low cost of living and very humble... but its paid for. My truck is 20 years old but it runs just fine... and its paid for. I can check out at any time and cover my bills just with just my part time hustles. If I had known to do this in my 20's, I wouldn't have wasted decades and hundreds of thousands messing with women, buying a home in a high cost area and purchasing new cars. Don't make the same mistakes I did!!!

2368. Oh Jimmy... nobody with half a brain thinks that Medicare alternative plans are anything but private insurance alternatives to Medicare. Such the word ALTERNATIVE. These plans are required to say as much in all their marketing material. The difference between Medicare and other commercial plans is that ALL Medicare Advantage plans have rules established by the Centers for Medicare Services (aka CMS) for minimum benefit levels, prior authorization requirements and prior auth approval criteria which must be complied with. Sooo... if Cigna denies coverage, it is based on criteria established and maintained by CMS. If they deny coverage for something that CMS includes in their base coverage requirements or that met criteria for prior authorization, then it will be caught in an audit and Cigna will either be fined heavily for it, or they could potentially lose their contract to provide Medicare ALTERNATIVE products. As for this knucklehead... he was a Marketing exec. I doubt he had any involvement in the operations of the plans he was selling and likely has no clue what an EDI837 transaction is. Does our healthcare system have issues? You betcha. Are Medicare ALTERNATIVE plans a huge scam? No sir. No they are not. You got your dogs barking up the wrong tree and, having been a long time subscriber, I know precisely why. It is in your own financial interest for your fellow tax payers to pay for you to get "free Medicare". Its no better than expecting me to pay for your kid's student loans.

2521. Its my experience that women are extremely fickle. They'll tell you that they want something, and then when you give it to them, they won't like it or flat out reject it. Examples from my last and final relationship: 1. She told me she wanted to learn how to play guitar, so for her birthday I bought her a really nice acoustic guitar with a gift certificate for five lessons. She opened the case when I gave it to her and then it was stuffed in to a closet, never to be opened again. 2. She told me she wanted to finish her degree so she could get her dream job, so I covered her bills so she could quit her job and go back to school. After she graduated, she went right back to her previous employer doing the exact same job she was doing before earning just $1 an hour more than she was earning previously. When I asked her why she wasn't leveraging her degree for her dream job, she got mad at me. 3. She told me she wanted to live on a farm so she could garden, raise chickens etc. I wanted to live in a rural area as well. That was one of the things that attracted me to her. For two years she texted me links to realty listings for farms in the suburbs that were priced in the $650k plus range. I ended up buying an abandoned farm two towns over in the next county for 1/4 the money. After a year of owning the farm she decided it was too much work. She never put in a garden. She never bothered to get chickens. Six months later that relationship was over... and so now I manage the farm, renovate the house and do all the chores myself. Lesson: When they tell you what they want, don't bother listening. 99% of the time what they "want" is just a passing thought in their head... and chances are they won't appreciate or even accept it when its given to them. Instead focus on what is in the best interest of your home and your family. If she wants something bad enough, she'll work for it on her own... and she'll appreciate it way more.

2548. Eminent domain is something a government does when it acts like a corporation rather than a public service. The decision to take from one individual to give to another (remember...corporations are people) should not be taken lightly, should be put to a community vote in a referendum and the individuals who are being taken from should be compensated for "replacement value" of what they are losing rather than market value. For example... say you are a generational farmer with land that has been in your family for hundreds of years. Your ancestors spent their lives improving that land so that future generations can thrive. The government comes in and says they want to put a highway through it. It is practically impossible to buy a replacement for that farm today. Improved plots of agricultural acreage, even if it could be found, would be prohibitively expensive and the money being provided by the government would never cover the cost of acquiring it. Ancestral land in Lahaina Hawaii is another example. There is no possible way for the indigenous people to find land to replace what they stand to lose. Taking it from them would mean destroying their ancestral community, making replacement value compensation prohibitively expensive. Legislation requiring "Replacement Value" compensation is how eminent domain is put in check. If whatever project the government plans to pursue is that important to "the community", then expecting "the community" to make the people losing their property whole seems reasonable.

2573. I happen to agree with her... and since Piers loves to share his opinions about the US so much, I am going to feel free to share my opinion of his beloved royals. You see a couple minutes ago my ancestor, John Alden, escorted a group of crazy kids to this land. They were tired of being shat on by the very people Piers speaks of because their religious beliefs were different than what the royals commanded. A couple generations down the line, my ancestors sent Piers' beloved royals a letter telling them what's up. Taxation without representation and all that. Instead of accepting it and moving on, a war ensued killing tens of thousands. Some of my ancestors included. Flash forward a couple hundred years and these same people are STILL sucking the life out of their "subjects" all while writing books about how hard it is to continuously suck that much, dashing off to private islands on private jets to hang out with other richies discussing how to subjugate the plebes and lecturing those same plebes on what they should and should not care about. Keep in mind they have their nubs in the governments of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and others. These countries seem Democratic on the surface, but their Prime Ministers are controlled by the brittish crown. The royals have more wealth than we could ever know, yet they still receive funds from UK tax payers while providing little value in return. Therefore they are parasites. Not just to the UK, but the entire world. If you think the brittish royals are not complicit in all the authoritarian controls being put in to place by the WEF and other richie rich clubs at this very moment, then you are a fool. They should have met the guillotine a long time ago.
