@toohichris8465 When I was that girl's age I stood 5 feet 4 inches and weighed about 150. Never. I mean NEVER did I EVER act like that. I was twice her size and it was all yes ma'am and no sir because I was taught how to act. My parents expected me to be polite, courteous and helpful to others. Raising my fists to an adult was not something that would have ever crossed my mind. So when you say "situations that all kids get in to" do you mean all kids go to the mall... or do you mean all kids assault grown men twice their size? I'm really curious. As for this man minding his business... I'm sure that was his plan until he tried to leave the mall with his wife and kid. Why should a man have to bow to down to an unruly child who comes at him with raised fists? If I had done that to my father, the result would have been precisely the same. If I had done that to a complete stranger, I would expect the same result as well. As for this child's supposed "older brother in the movie theater"... perhaps if he or her parents were there to keep her in line then none of this would have happened. Stop making excuses for the child.

Mike X He was trying to get his family safely past the crowd when the girls started shoving him. If they showed the whole video you would see that he was not the instigator. He did shove the girl as a warning. She came back at him with raised fists. I don't care who you are or how old... you raise fists and head towards me, I'm putting an end to it as quickly as possible. Brutally and with malice.

Most people have no idea how they are going to react when they, or their family, are threatened. Did he overreact? Well... put yourself in his shoes. You're trying to safely get your family past a crowd of unruly teens. There are 10+ surrounding you acting crazy. One of them assaults you. You give them a shove to create some space and she comes back at you with fists raised. What do you do? Its a child. The child has already assaulted you. You have no idea if her or her crazed friends have weapons. Your spouse and child are right behind you. You have three seconds to decide. What do you do?

Since when is it the public education system's responsibility to teach a kid how to act outside of school? Never. That is the parent's job.
