I think the Russian leadership is going stir crazy trying to respond to the crossing of red lines by the USA and their allies. the Russians know doing war with NATO is suicide. not only with the Russians lose the war in Ukraine, but their army will get blasted so much they can do a reenactment of Desert storm 2.0 with the Russian army playing the Saddam Iraqi army. and Putin if he is still alive (which I i doubt very much) probably does not want to go reprise the role of Czar Nicholas II in his final days. most importantly the Russian elites who have a lot of assets in the west, do not want to lose those assets and their kids arrested and deported back to Russia. and Russian going thru economic collapse and possible 1917 2.0.

Ive read excerpts from the upcoming Bob Woodward book war, seems like the Russians were strongly contemplating to use nukes in the aftermath of the Ukrainian oct counteroffensive which took back 50 percent of what they lost in the process mauling 3 Russian divisions. After the Americans found out, Biden had Jake Sullivan and lloyd Austin basically tell the Kremlin that the use of Russian nukes in Ukraine will basically result in war with NATO. Reportedly Shoigu replied that he does not like being threatened to which Lloyd Austin replied, I am the leader of the greatest military power in human history and we do not make threats, haahah that supposedly scared the crap out of the Russians.
