  1. yah I think Vietnam war a mistake, having grown up in the 70s, USA could have "won" in Vietnam by keeping South Vietnam alive, as the backs of VC were broken by the military failure of the Tet offensive but with Johnson being weak and just quitting his presidency, watergate, the disillusionment of the American people of the war and Vietnam and a weak Ford presidency. the oil crisis, very weak South Vietnamese presidency, well South Vietnam fell easilly to the NVA. and it wounded the US social consciousness so much that in 91, George Bush Sr. stated that their victory in Desert storm exorcised the Ghosts of Vietnam.

  3. well after 1 year and 3 months of a losing war, stalemated , bloody war(worst Russian casualties since ww2 and more casualties and all the post war Soviet conflicts combined), I think the Russian people are done with Ukraine, they dont want to be involved with it and want the nightmare to end. Ukraine will be the graveyard of the Russian federation and Putin's regime. I can see Russia breaking up after this war is over whether it be immidiate like what happened to the USSR or a gradual slide to a break up. Ukraine which was not belligerent to Russia at all now hates Russia very much and this hatred will not go away for a very long time since it created and the basis for the current Ukrainian national identity. After this war is over Ukraine will join NATO and the EU serving as a eastern Shield to Europe, Belarus will get rid of Lukashenko get a liberal democratically elected pro west gov and later join NATO and the EU. Georgia get rid of the dream party and join NATO and EU. Armenia will probably do the same with EU but not NATO. Russia will be in unrest and chaos for a decade. Then after Russia losing around 50 percent of its pre war territory to secession , will stabilize maybe later(several decades) join NATO and the EU as a shield vs. China.
