  1. well the Syrian gov was saved by the Russian air power intervention back in 2015 which allowed the Syrian gov to recapture allepo and maul the rebels took nearly a decade for the rebels to recover from the thrashing they got. Also Russian special forces, PMCs along with Iranian IRGC and Hezbollah kept the rebels from getting stronger and consolidating. 75 percent of the Syrian army is Syrian Sunni and of questionable loyalty to the Syrian Shiite Assad gov. which oppresses them. Yep its said most of the syrian army are part time rebels, selling weapons and intel to the rebels. The only effective parts of the Syrian army are its republican guards , special forces and presidential guard units which are mostly staffed from Syrian shiite esp. from Assad's Alawite tribe and allies. So when the Russians and Iranians ran away, the Syrian army quickly disintegrated with many of them deserting to the rebels. Its also said, that the Syrians sent thousands of troops starting late 2022 to Ukraine to aid the Russians in defeating the Ukrainians masquerading as Russians, these units sent were from the Syrian shiite side of teh Syrian army so mostly concentrated on the most loyal units of the Syrian army, its said thousands of them died in Ukraine used as cannon fodder. so weakened the Syrian army even more.
