Life with parole after 25 years both of them will probably be seen as heroes by prisoners for killing a police chief, however if the police chief is influential enough, their life will be hell in prison, like making a note to keep them under the eye at all times for violations after they are sentenced, like guards make an exception to monitor them for vi0lations so they get sent to max security isolation where they go insane after life in maximum isolation. and they get more years tacked on their sentence.
