  1. Soviet troops captured by Germans got starved beaten and massacred. So not surprised the Soviets fought very hard and to the death vs. the Germans.Why surrender when they will brutalize you just fight to the death and take many of them down with you. German abuse of SOivet POWs greatly helped the Soviet fight on. and later defeat the Germans.
