  1. as I said before these Ukr attacks are probes to find weak points in the Russian lines. the Russian strategy are to put regular army infnatry blocking forces and massive mobile reserve forces at the back to react to Ukrainian offensives and plug the holes backed up by strong artillery and air support. so the Ukrs strategy is two fold, find weak points in the Russian lines and make the Russians stretch out their reserves and resources. Also Im not surpised if the Ukrs take do a major offensive in the Russian border areas. possibly try to take over Belgorod or go behind and disrupt Russian logistics in Russia itself. since this is the only Russian weakpoint I can see since the Southern areas are heavilly mined and fortified by the Russians and the other weak point, which the the Kherson area has been flooded by the Russians to prevent a Ukrainian offensive there.
