Putin is a careful operator however if he goes into something he goes all in until he wins(or wins something), he tends to double down in the face of challenges. when he is into it. That is why in Ukraine , he has his back to the wall, he cannot stop but double down all the time. This will not end well for Putin.

and all this will not end well for Putin and he will probably drag Russia down with him. Russia will have to deal with the TIme of Troubles 2.0 after he dies and the war ends. It will be a disaster for Russia comparable to 1917. Putin will be blamed for all this by his own people. Putin wanted to be compared to Peter the great, he will be compared to Nicholas II, Ivan the Terrible and hitler. his legacy will be shit, his wealth and family probably gone. the Putin name will be an embarassment and much hated , Russian prestige down the toilet, and the Russian federation will probably be significantly smaller. with large parts of it breaking up and becoming new countries. and the former Russian Fed will be a great game of influence fought between USA and China.

I think after this war is over Russia will turn inward, and focus on domestic problems which will be a LOT. I think the only threatening stuff comign from Russia after the war is over are the millions of refugees running away from Russia , along with Russia becoming a failed narco state. with criminals both Russian and foreign using Russia as a base of operations. also with the collapse of law and order in Russia, you might see the Black sea becoming plagued by Russian pirates. But also the foreign powers will be meddling in Russian affairs, and I think the Ukrainians will also be meddling in Russian affairs after the war is over, supporting their favored political military faction. and heck I can see the Ukrainians actualy doing limited military actions invading Russian terrritory to suppress bandits etc. even after the war is over.

I think after this war is over future historians will ponder on Putin's mental functions, Putin will be a historical case of a mental state of denying reality and seeing reality as what he believes it to be rather what it really is, this is a cope mechanism, Putin will destroy his country for his own personal view of reality. Putin does not care about anyone except himself first his family second and third his close friends, everyone else is disposable.
