  1. in the USSR post stalin there was a three way fight for influence KGB vs. Communist party vs. GRU(Soviet armed forces). After the dissolution of the USSR it was a fight between the FSB vs. the GRU. After Putin the FSB won and is dominant and the GRU is suborned to the FSB. if Russia loses this war, it will all be up in the air. I think the FSB will lose a lot of its power and you will see the rise of other forces. possibly the oligarchs and the resurgence of Russian army GRU influence.
