also many Russian dead are not even recovered so that the Russian state can just list them as missing and not pay the families of the dead soldiers. Many Russian troops are blown to bits so they dont even have a body to get, they are listed as missing. Also many Russian and Russian foreign volunteer soldiers who were wounded are executed by the fellow soldiers ordered by Russian officers, according to interviews of escaped Nepali volunteers int he Russian army, Russian officers forced them to shoot their own wounded. and they were used as cannon fodder. I think a major percentage of the Russian dead are due to poor Russian battlefield medical , many wounded Russian troops are not evaced from the battlefield, the cannon fodder esp. and there is a shortage in medical supplies. and Russian wounded are executed on the spot since they are a burden to their units. So that is why the real number of Russian dead may actually be twice or three times as high as the BBC figures.

and this rate does not even count foreign volunteer deaths in the Russian army which is probably in the thousands too. A Nepali co worker of mine told me his friend is fighting in the Wagner group in the Russian army since recruitment in late 2022. He said that out of 50 in his batch only 15 are left alive.
