Have to add... I'm SHOCKED @ how many of you think shooting 1st is legal!*.....or ethical!
As to if it was 'ethical,' i understand, once someone is acting crazy and threatening, a lot of you deem that reason enough to use deadly force 1st...and i get that.... I used to lean that way too...
I learned, over time: There are 2 problems with that!:
(1) It's a slippery-slope! - The line gets thinner and thinner as to 'what is threatening'. Combined with cops' fear, it's easier and easier to shoot 1st... We have seen this escalation in last 10 years...
(2) It does not account for mental health, intoxication or other scenarios! ← If that was your brother, father etc and he was drugged or had a psychotic break, i doubt u would want him shot for that scenario!
* Of course it's legal if there is 'real imminent threat', e.g. close quarters, clear intent. E.g. In this scenario, if they knew the gun was real/loaded etc...because he'd already fired at ppl or police..
Or, e.g. 2, if someone is running at police/citizen with a knife, + if police have given verbal & visual commands, and the aggressor has understood that command, but fails to surrender etc. etc. etc.
Point of this case is that, over that distance, considering the officers were all behind cover, there WAS NO REAL THREAT + offender/suspect was NOT WARNED TO SURRENDER!

IMMEDIATELY i can tell BOTH those 'officers' should not be cops. They have AWFUL people skills, AWFUL conflict resolution, AWFUL human-relations, empathy, being objective, SERVING the PUBLIC etc etc etc...
They start the whole job with an air of arrogant superiority, being condescending for no reason, escalating instead of de-escalating etc etc etc....
I hate cancel culture and whining liberals but in clear cases like this, those two should be sacked or re-trained. OK, wow, i hadn't even got to 5:15 yet - this idiot needs to learn some Gracie Jiu Jitsu, so he can understand the most BASIC ways to control someone - Morons who think you need to punch or kick, to subdue, need to learn the BASIC SKILLS you need to control people.
Yeh, this is cop who is sacred and so loses his temper <-- yet another thing a police officer should NEVER allow - You should keep your emotions out of it. If the guy resists, you grapple, use pain compliance or as he suggested, taser MAYBE... If he did grab his hand, as he alleged, he could have just waited it out or grappled... Freaking out and throwing punches... that was ridiculously unprofessional.
A WORD ON BAD PARTNERS!: YOu can tell his partner was against him and wanted him to tone it down but she only softly said a couple of things. If your partner loses it, CONTROL THEM! Step up! Step in!

It's never easy to see someone shot in the back by police as they are running away and not, technically, threatening anyone but at the same time, if it was you, doing your job, would you want to risk, the split-second it takes for him to turn and shoot you?...
I don't know what the laws are in that area or what that department's policies are, re a person running away, armed with a pistol but it seems logical to follow directions from police - deal with the rest LATER, alive, uninjured and with a lawyer!... 😥
