I want that back story of when he lived in that high top full size van and why he got rid of it

Yes used car lot prices are still way too much in NJ... Having a fresh heart in that rig is better than getting a newer vehicle
2
He wanted a fresh new layout to try

Hmmm that space behind the unit is the air intake for inside the camper... My suggestion if keeping it that way is to route a duct from the front passenger side and under the bed so it will make more flow within that tiny space Just like in a sticks and bricks home, you have intake vents through the walls of a home with central HVAC systems

You can put air ducts to divert the heated air to the desk area Or split the hose with a tee and have 2 exit ducts to both sides

For a high top bigger van, yes... This small SUV that heater is sufficient or as he said maybe too much on full blast
1
Keep it maintained and regular checks for the fluid levels. Some models burn oil and the timing chain for the gasoline engine side likes clean oil

That steel zip tie was secured for the exhaust end... We didn't see how he routed the intake tube (hopefully towards the front and driver side) Definitely has a co detector in all his rigs and a fire extinguisher 😅

In NJ, get off road Diesel (dyed diesel) for the heater... You dont pay extra road tax😊 Reflectix has only a very small insulation factor in that application but anything helps. bonding a foam mat to it and you won't need suction cups because you can make the foam mat a "friction fit" & double the insulation factor I commented about the diesel heater in others so well see how you put air ducts on both sides of the heat exchanger Being in the medical field is a noble job. I cant do it because i don't like needles or seeing blood etc😢

Yeah, route the air intake tube towards the driver side (and maybe towards the front seat) since we saw his exhaust pointing towards the passenger side (parallel to the muffler)

Gasoline does vaporize much easier, but this diesel fuel is more like oil... It still stinks though 😢 Another van lifer has relocated the fuel tank to an external insulated box on a backdoor of his cargo van conversion because of the smell Other weak faults for this unit is noisy ticking pump (got to insulate the noise) , inferior green fuel line and cheap filter (if any), carry a spare glow plug, and if run on low for long periods of time, may form carbon buildup sooner (just run it on high once in a while to clear it)

Great point with the wood flooring... Needs a thermal heat tape on that section of the pipe to the sheet metal Yes, he always has a CO detector and a fire extinguisher for his rigs😅
1
At the least he has a fire extinguisher and a CO detector Diesel doesn't vaporize like a gasoline or propane fuel so no worries of fumes. Some people don't like the smell though and re locates the fuel tank outside of the rig (Hopefully insulated because it doesn't like cold & will gel up)

He's keeping that side of his life private, just glad he has time for posting videos because health care workers can be a hectic job 😅

I think he's keeping the car as a backup? If it's paid for it also can be a runabout vehicle since it's slightly better in gas mileage. Wondered what happened to the high top full size van???
