@ArnoldFlibble except it really didn't work that way. people lobbied congress for all manner of special investment and financial dodges and used those to get a work around the high taxes.

His argument is childish because of his limited understanding of history. (1) we did not have a huge expansion of jobs and wealth in the 1950's because of high taxes we had it because we were the only industrial power left with an intact industrial base after world war 2. and (2) nobody paid those ridiculously high rates anyway, the tax code was jammed full of all sorts of set asides, and dodges that politicians are fond of providing for special interests. If those rates had been real instead of just on paper then the economy would have ground to a halt.
