@Talorc MacAllan "Deals will and have to happen , as usual in politics it takes eons ,"
Yes since both sided want to get the best possible result for themselves. If one side gives in at all relevant points, it is fast and easy.
The UK was in such of a hurry, that the EU could have easily shafted the UK, just like Australia did in their deal. But the EU agreed on a more than fair deal.
"the EU has tried to punish Britain for leaving, that won't work we voted out and out we are ,"
The EU has never tried to punish the UK, it has just removed the benefits of membership, just like the UK wanted. The UK has damaged itself.
"i suspect after the dust settles others will consider leaving"
Well, Brexit has shown what the benefits of being a part of the EU really are. Nobody wants to make a fool of themselves line the UK.
"also when the EU bully them in to detrimental areas"
????
".........the new world order is a stupid idea that sounds great on paper but realistically will never happen ........it all takes time ,"
What on earth are you talking about?
"the UK is better for being out of that corrupt organization,in my humble opinion it will just take time to realize that."
You are funny.
"the question is will there be a united kingdom 5 years from now........going by the countries in the UK and their disdain for the Union I suspect not."
Well, I do not know if this will be this fast, but sure, there are hints.

@jonny1872 "Yes, shall I use the same rhetoric that I would have used to tell the USA when they went to Iraq, or shall I try something else?"
I am against both invasions, but
- Ukraine is a Democracy,
- Ukraine is a neighbor of the EU,
- Many countries in the EU have really bad memories about control by Moscow.
"If you simply believe that Putin is all to blame then what can I even say to that?"
In regards of the situation in Ukraine it is Russia that is all to blame.
"And the other perpetrators will carry on regardless."
In Ukraine there are no perpetrators but Russia.
"Take Putin out and they will move on to the next guy, and you can all shout about him, whoever he, or she, is."
Sure, and he or she will know that messing with the Russians neighbors is not good policy.

Nick Nack Seems more you are the idiot, if you are leaving the GDP will reduce by 13% but nobody will be poorer. So this is a non issue.
And once again, the EU27 is by far the largest export market of the UK, taking 45% of British exports. Another 40% of British exports are fostered by EU trade deals. On the other hand, the UK will become one export markets of many, for all countries I have looked up you are smaller than the USA. For example only 6% of German exports are going to the UK, you are less important than the USA or China.
The EU has numerous trade deals, and closer associated countries and members. This setup requires fairness, if we would pamper the UK we would affront numerous trading partners. The combined value of this trade deals by far exceeds the value of the UK. So the UK will need to act reasonable to realize a trade deal.
Once the UK has left, we sill will have all these trade deals, but you will have nearly none. As far as I remember trade deals covering 5% of British exports have been rolled over.

@eddiel7635 "like I said before, any treaty or contract is only worth something whilst it benefits both parties. Once that’s no longer the case, it’s either changed or the other party walks away."
Like I said, walking a way needs 12 month of notice and in this 12 months you are obliged to adhere to the treaty.
Walking away from the NIP means walking away from the WA, the trade deal, and the GFA.
"As for Brexit, since when has self determination ever been so controversial?"
It never has, you wanted to leave and no one was holding you back.
"The UK made a decision that it doesn’t want to be governed by unelected officials in Brussels, this is a perfectly sensible and reasonable decision to make and well within our rights."
That is fine, I repeat myself, nobody was holding you back.
Well, it was clear from the beginning that you would either need to breach the GFA or tho come to a reasonable compromise like the NIP.
"The sooner you all get over it and accept that it wasn’t a crime the better for all of us."
We got over it in 2016.

@Ami-vh7sr You cannot trust any numbers in the present situation. These are the official registered cases and deaths. Lots of people with mild symptoms never saw a doctor and, therefore, cannot be registered. If you do not test for the virus, the number of infected people will be zero. And if you do not test enough, the presented number will be significantly lower than reality.
Korea has tested excessively, so their numbers will be the most precise. Germany has tested much more than other European countries, so the relation of infected to deaths is very different in Italy, France, Spain, and the UK.
Based on the plausibility, I would guess, that the numbers in China are much more realistic than the numbers of France, Spain, Italy the UK or the USA.

2:47 The documentary claims that without a deal the UK would have the same relationship to the EU as China, Russia or Zimbabwe. You disagree and say it would be more like the USA, Kanada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Japan.
I am sorry, the EU has trade deals or at least bilateral agreements with all the countries you mentioned. No deal Brexit, on the other hand, means no deal. This is more like China, Russia or Zimbabwe.

@danieleyre8913 "The Baltic states in 2004 were all considerably wealthier"
No up to the crisis in Greece the Baltic republics had a lower GDP per capita compared to Greece.
"and more developed"
No
"and less corrupt (due to much much smaller physical size & greater cohesion)"
Has nothing to do with the size, it has only to do with the effort to sub do corruption.
"than Ukraine was even prior to the invasion."
Well, now Ukraine can go to deeper and deeper levels of association with the EU and receive EU funding. This will accelerate the growth and prepare Ukraine for the challenges of becoming a member.
So in 2032 Ukraine will be in a much better shape when joining.
"The Baltic states were also a much better match for trading with the EU due to geography, historical links, and having goods for which there is a market for in the EU."
I think the same is true for Ukraine.
"And actually there have been many negative side effects of their EU membership. Their manufacturing industries have been decimated, much of their agricultural sector struggles to be profitable and they’ve suffered an exodus of their talented youth."
The European single market is a challenge. But if a country accepts this it can grow as fast as Poland and the Baltic republics. The same is true for Romania.
"This pantomime you’re maintaining that monetary wealth isn’t a barrier to EU membership is frankly absurd. Of course it is!"
Well it is not!
" If a nation does not have enough wealth and export earnings,"
Then the wage level is low and the exports will rise dramatically after joining. Just like most for most of the new members.
"it will suffer the problems of trade Imbalances,"
Sure it will export too much.
"overvalued currency (killing off exports),"
Only if the wages and state spending in this country raise too fast.
"inability to pay back loans, etc. You know, the issues Greece had a decade ago…"
Sure they criminally cheated in order to run a far higher deficit than allowed in the EU. Most countries where poorer than Greece when joining and they do not show these problems.
I mean Greece manages to go bankrupt several times in the last 150 years.

@delawarecop "Ms Tymoshenko is a key opposition leader and main rival of the current President. She was sentenced to a particularly harsh seven-year prison term on the basis of vague abuse-of-office charges."
Yes, this was during the time of Janukowytsch, the puppet of Putin. At the same time Wiktor Juschtschenko was poisoned. This was part of the motivation for Euromaidan.
In any case it is "Pedro Poroshenko" who is the opposition leader.
Well, Wiktor Juschtschenko was also fighting for Ukraine despite awaiting a prosecution for corruption.
"Medvedchuk is also charged with allegedly disclosing secret data on the deployment of Ukrainian military units last year."
Well, Medvedchuk is a personal friend of the person who commanded the invasion into Ukraine, so this claim is not really unlikely.
"The new accusations are part of a broader campaign against Medvedchuk launched by Ukrainian authorities in February, when his financial assets were frozen for three years. In February, authorities also shut down three pro-Russian TV channels, 112, Zik and NewsOne, which Medvedchuk controlled."
Well, collaboration with the enemy that wages war over your country is a crime in most countries, even democracies.
"See a pattern here? Is this the kind of Democracy that people had in mind when they hear Ukrainain Democracy?"
Well, it is a democracy that seems to be improving since Euromaidan, but they still have a long way to go. Still it is orders of magnitude better than Russia.

efren peterson "1) If selling our fish to others outside the EU is going to require more time , effort and money. Then the same is true if the eu needs to import fish into the EU from else where, to close the shortfall."
Sure, but this does not help the UK, it makes imports from the UK more expensive while imports from other countries stay the same. Your exports will compete on an equal footing to other countries outside the EU.
Even more other countries have the protocols of exporting to the EU already in place, the UK has not. Without certified checks, your fish can not be legally exported to the EU.
"2) Business activity generates when there is a demand, it ebbs and flows.
So the INITIAL pressure will come from the EU consumers demanding continued 'sea food' at the same prices. That's the point. Businesses are their to cater for the demand, not the other way round. "
Well, business is fast to adapt. They can scource it fron all around the world if British fish is no longer avaliable in the required amounts.
"3) time is on the side of our fisherman, and our fish. they can wait it out."
As far as I understood, are they already on the brink of collapse. Do you really think the government of the UK will support them? That is more the way of the EU, not the way of the UK.
"Our fish will always be the cheapest way for EU consumers to get their seafood,"
Sure you are the closest country, but you also have high wages and no trade deal.
"and it will be the consumers of Europe that will win out in the end not the political mafia in Brussels !!"
Barnier is doing a good job in protecting the citizens of the EU from the consequence of Brexit.

@Anonymous Bosch (1) Well you where not.
(2) Germany has lost more territory than Serbia ever had. Well, Germany could insist on the borders of 1930, or 1914, or even 1400, but that wouldn't bring it back. It is better to be a good neighbor, a friend not an aggressor. Once you are a member of the EU, these borders will loose most of their importance anyway.
Ps. I looked it up, the Serbian economy is worse then the Bulgarian economy. But sure thanks to freedom of movement, many Bulgarian people will have taken the chance to improve their lives.
(3) Well, Serbia has been the aggressor in the war, you will be treated this way until you make credible steps to redeem yourself. But this would still not mean you would become a member of NATO.

@marilata551 : The Eurozone is a team, similar to a group of mountaineers. Together it is easier and safer to climb the mountain of success, but if one partner behaves unreasonable, he endangers the whole team. Keeping your partners from doing unreasonable things is no dictatorship, it is enforcing the rules all partners agreed to at the beginning.
A policy of austerity is damaging as it hits the poor part of the society the hardest, and it prevents long term investment in future industries. So, some public debt is useful to allow to boost your economy and invest in infrastructure, but once our debts exceed the amount you are trusted to pay back, you are in trouble. As always, the compromise is the way to go, this is exactly what the EU promotes. Within the sound range, there is still a wide variety of possible solutions to enforce by the individual countries.
By the way, any comparison with the USA is futile, the dollar is the worlds key currency, so the USA is the only country able to pay with printed paper.

@marilata551 : I fully agree with you in this respect the USA, the UK, France, and Russia are fueling the conflict pushing the Syrians to flee. Still, I can think of no justification to repeal these people if it this means sending them to their death.
I am fully aware that the Dublin contract is kind of unfair for Italy, I would argue for a change but with the far right governments in Europe, such a change is impossible.
To me, this is the reason why the new far-right entity in the EU parliament will never work. Different countries of the EU have different opinions, but they compromise in the EU. Far right parties also incorporate these national spirits, but without compromise. So in most arguments within the EU parliament, the far right of one country will end up the most inexpiably opposition of the far right of another country. They will mostly cancel themselves out.

@marilata551 : Yes, love and hate are the two extreme poles of your possible emotion. Both sides distort your recognition. Unlike you, I see myself as a European, but I surely have many points to that would need improvement. I am trying to have an objective viewpoint.
It was not love, but logic and decency that made the Eurozone help Greece. It may not have been enough, but without this help, the crisis would have been much worse.
The war in Yugoslavia was a civil war outside of the EU. The EU had and still has no army, it is no military alliance. So unlike NATO and individual EU countries, the EU had no influence on Yugoslavia. Furthermore, if you refer to the International Court of Justice in The Haag, I can assure you it has nothing to do with the EU.
Once again if you want to remove the missiles pointing to Russia, you need to abandon NATO, not the EU.
Please educate yourself before repeating pointless accusation, otherwise, you embarrass yourself.

@Willy_Tepes The UK did not have the most draconian lockdown. They locked down too late and not really consequential (see Cummings). In addition, no useful tracing program was instated. Finally, old infected people were not admitted to hospitals but send to the send to nursing homes to spread the sickness there. As a result, of this car crash of a COVID response, lots of people died and the lockdown needed to be instated much longer than necessary with a better response (see Australia or S Korea). The UK's response caused a high death rate and a large economic downturn.
As you can see, countries that acted early and decisively experienced a minimal impact on the economy, the lifestyle, and the death rate. Sweden is an outlier, there social distancing was a lifestyle even before COVID 19, and as far as I know, they closed large sporting events earlier than the UK.
"When you look at the total mortality of this year compared to previous years, there is no significant excess mortality"
It is just much larger than any spike due to the flu in the last 50 years. Germany, in contrast, has a reduced mortality for the same period (masks protect from other sicknesses too).

@safeeffective385 "Russia simply doesn't want to be a part of the UN"
Well, they can decide to leave the UN Security Council any time. But I guess you have misspoken.
"and if you look at the eastern expansion of the UN's territory to the east over the past 20 years,"
The UN has not expanded much. It was nearly the whole earth to begin with.
Well, eastern European countries felt intimidated by Russia and therefore joined NATO, the current war shows that they did the right thing. If Ukraine was a member of NATO there would be no war.
"they pushed very close to Russia's border... within a few hundred miles of Moscow at that."
That is very far from Moscow. Just imagine Switzerland would require its borders to be at least 400 km from Bern.
"Russia/Ukraine had a clearly defined peace treaty in place for about 8 years, but the Ukrainian militias moved heavy artillery weapons close to the DMV and began artillery barrages to the tune of thousands of rounds over just a few days, damn well knowing that Russia would respond to it."
1. Russia had guaranteed the territorial integrity of Ukraine in 1994.
2. Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014.
3. Since 2014 till 2022 Russia financed an armed insurgency into Ukraine.
4. There was the treaty of Minsk, but the separatists did not keep the cease fire, so the next steps of the treaty could not be implemented.
5. Ukraine wanted the Misnk agreement to work and asked for a UN peacekeeping mission, but this was vetoed by Moscow.
"The main stream media is not mentioning this fact whatsoever and trying to paint it as if Russia went in completely unprovoked... which simply is not true in reality."
Well, it is true. Russia manufactured this provocation. They are not the first to have done so.

@justicedone3929 Regarding the fishing rights. Fish is a red herring, it doesn't contribute much to the GDP of either side. Appart from this, the EU can demand what it wants, there is no reason to pamper the UK.
Regarding the level playing field: Trade deals are about reducing red tape by defining each others standards as equivalent. The UK, however, wants to change its standards in an undefined way. But you cannot define something undefined as equivalent to the EU standards. Especially, if this declaration is legally binding.
In addition, if not all standards are equivalent, like for Canada, still all deliveries need to be checked at the borders. It would not prevent the issues of Brexit.
The level playing field is the only way to solve this problem, and therefore, Boris has agreed to it in the PD.

@Ian-pm8ll : Man stick to the topic, we can discuss Mercosur wen we are finished with crops.
Vacuum packed meat has a shelf life of more than a month. Beef even improves for the first 21 days.
This also true for apples, pineapples, melons, oranges, potatoes, onions....
But there is a variety of products were this is not true, like strawberries, salad, asparagus, tasty tomatoes...
Do you really think you can source these from all over the world?

Dear Jimmy Dore,
please try to compare this to the US. Would you be so much in favor when someone would argue for the independence of California or Florida?
Yes I know, a lot of things are strange about the European Union and in fact, Britain was the main Voice to keep it this way:
When a Group is working together there are two ways to realize a decision:
There is the majority vote, which means one member can be obliged to enforce a rule he is not in favor.
And, there is unanimity, which renders the group incapable of action if it exceeds a certain size. Here the diplomacy behind closed doors is becoming crucial.
However, the Brits and many others required unanimity and later complained about diplomacy behind closed doors. The only way the Brits would be satisfied would be the rule of Britain over the EU.
And regarding the wages: Yes the east European countries are benefitting, just as Britain 30 Years ago. But this does not really reduce wages in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands or Denmark. I know there are some disadvantaged Industries but it is advantageous in general.
Would you close the border of New York to prohibit the truckers from Alabama from spoiling the wages of NY truckers?
And finally regarding Greece; I have no idea what our Government is doing, just consider this:
If we would just erase the depts of Grece the economy of Greece would flourish, but in 3 Jears Grece would be in the same situation as it is now. Please, tell me if you have a better strategy.

@grahamtopping6035 The UK may have been a founding member of the WTO but it has not been a member for more than 40 years. Your schedules have expired decades ago. So for the WTO you are a new member, all other members of the WTO can dispute your schedules, and several have.
"But just like your countrymen you think threats will win the day"
The only side thinking of using threads threats is the UK. The EU has acted treated you very fair
"It won’t"
Sure, I fully agree.
"We sell approx 5% of our output to the EU"
About 45% of your exports are going to the EU, and another 20% are based on EU trade deals.
"The rest we sell to our Commonwealth and the rest of the world"
Based on EU trade deals.
"EU market 0.5 billion people - Declining market... Our Commonwealth 2.8 billion people - Emerging market"
Well, the EU is not growing as fast as the emerging markets of China and India, but the growth of the UK outside the EU is expected to be more like Argentina.
"How are Germany gonna get on selling their cars to us when we apply WTO tarrifs... Ooops"
Well, German car manufacturers sell cars all over the globe, with and without trade deals. The UK is only a limited market for these cars. All car producers in the EU agree that the integrity of the common market is more important than a deal with the UK. The same is true for the rest of the European industry and for the European population and for the European governments.
"Looks like tougher times ahead for all EU countries if Germany carries on in recession 🤔🤪"
Unlike you seem to think Germany did not experience a recession in 2019. Furthermore, the downturn due to COVID19 in Germany was less than 9% while it was more than 20% for the UK.
"You’re carrying the whole thing now and Italy has to reschedule it’s debts at the end of the year... Good luck with that 👍🏻"
At the end of this year? Do you have any sources?
"Not our problem after December 😊"
Sure, but your issues are no longer our problem too.

@paulwood6729 "You're right that applying tariffs is simply following the rules, but it is their schedule that would be applied under the MFN rule. I take the 'maybe' to mean a change in their schedules, although that would apply to all imports not covered by a FTA, not just from the UK so it would be a significant move."
Therefore it ain't going to happen.
"The EU could apply sanctions if the WA is broken but not increase tariffs solely on the UK."
Punitive tariffs are a frequently used type of sanctions.
"In that case, we would probably remove our armed forces from Estonia & Cyprus. Why would we defend countries that are applying sanctions on us?"
I guess we would find a solution. Well, I know, German troops in these countries have a strange connotation. I doubt this would be the way to go. But your decision might accelerate the institution of an EU army.
"There will be a deal, and that is the solution to the NI Protocol. Brinksmanship is the EU way, consider the Maastricht negotiations as a prime example, so the current state of affairs was inevitable."
I would think brinksmanship is the way of the UK, trying to blackmail the EU. But you need to consider, you are no longer a member of the EU. You will find the EU much less flexible to external pressure, compare to internal pressure.
"Barnier being in London on Thursday evening suggests they are prepared for a deal to be made in time for the Council session. The question is how do the EU dig themselves out of the hole they've made and not lose face?"
It is the UK that needs a deal, not the EU. We can continue the negotiations in 2021, we can weather the moderate disruption until the UK comes to its senses.

@davidwarnes5158 "You can stay prisoners , think that if over 50% of who voted wanted to leave , better we go."
Most citizens of the EU think Brexit is a really stupid idea and will damage the UK. Still, it is your own decision, we will not prevent you from leaving the EU. But there is no reason to pamper the UK, every country of the EU needs to look out for its own benefit.
"The eu had a chance to do a small deal with David Cameron, then there would not have been a brevity vote. So are eu also to blame ?"
Decisions in the EU are made by the Governments of the individual countries. Why should any country agree to a change beneficial for the UK but detrimental for the country itself. No Government that makes such decisions can be expected to be reelected.
"I disagree the eu have spent all this time attacking,"
Well, pritish politicians and yournalists constantly attacked the EU, all I have heard from the EU was occosional mild mocking.
"going behind the governments back, secret meetings to try and stop what we voted for,"
Well, some politicials met with British collegs to coordinate procedures and inform each other. There was nothing secret and nothong objectionable about this. Well, Teresa May and Broris Johnson did the same with the EU. They met with different heads of governments in the EU and tried to bypass Barnier and to undermine the EUs negotiating position. You cannot condem without condemming the other without being a hypocrit.

@andresxhs752 "first you're being naive in believing any data about elections coming from Ukraine."
There have been international observers. So these are the most trustworthy figures we have.
"Not to mention that there were no pro russian parties in the last general election, they were forbidden since 2014."
No they where forbidden after the invasion in 2022.
"Besides I doubt the so called pro russian parties were so before 2014."
So these where not pro Russian enough for you? That is your problem it shows you are a radical.
"You want to believe your dear nazi Ukrainians are innocent but I know my city better than you."
I do not know, why you equate being against the Russian influence over Ukraine as being a Nazi. Well, don't you think that makes you more of a Nazi than the Ukrainians you describe?
"Those are not only my claims but people from Mariupol who have seen the Ukrainians doing it."
Well, they simply had not the level of firepower to cause the destruction we have seen in Mariopol.
I will not deny that the Ukrainian army may have targeted some Russian forces inside of Mariopol, but this will be a tiny fraction of the total destruction.
"Russian missile attacks on lviv's and Odessa's regions are not denied by the Russians because they make a daily report on the objects of militar infrastructure they have attacked."
And quite often they miss and hit populated areas.
"And I'll answer your question. If you stop thinking about Ukrainian army as some organised patriotic angels who defend their land from the bad bad russians"
I never claimed the Ukrainian army to be angles, but they are indeed defending their land.
Well, I do not think of the Russian soldiers as bad, I mainly think this way of Putin.
"it will be all clear."
Let us see.
"They behave like an outsourced army leaving a burned land for the Russians."
They behave like any army defending their home country. The French army in WW1 and the Soviet army in WW2 has acted similarly.
"The West knows that Ukraine will lose but in order to make as much damage as possible, they just burn everything."
We know that Ukraine must not loose, otherwise Russia will endanger EU and NATO countries.
"Considering that there are a lot of your western mercenaries here right now, they don't care at all."
The Russian army uses mercenaries, Ukraine does not. Mercenaries are fighting as part of a company like WAGNER, a foreign legion is not the same as mercenaries.
"I see that you don't care about witnesses in those cities about the atrocities that Ukrainians have committed."
In this situation it is difficult to trust anyone, but things hat contradict logic are especially difficult to trust.
But I am surely also taking Selensky with more than a grain of salt.
"It doesn't fit with your brainwashing programme."
Are you describing yourself.
"Now use your braincell and think, if anybody who lost his home, and especially relatives because of the Russians, would be lying and deceiving himself and blame Ukrainians just because he was prorussian? You just can't do it no matter how brainwashed you are from any side."
If missiles are fired from behind the horizon, the average citizen will be unable to know where they came from and will attribute this to the side he thinks is evil.
So all we know is, that these bombings took place and how the front has developed.
"I've seen proukrinian people loosing their relatives because of those nationalists, the ones they were supporting. Now they don't know how to live. Everything they believed in died with their relatives."
Well, the area around Verdun (WW1) was pommeled by both sides. That is the issue with static front lines.
"Ukrainians who are yet far from the front just haven't seen them in action yet... Time will come."
Well, at the current speed it will take years, I hope the war will end sooner.

"1. The axis selective (only goes to 16%) "
It is a strange metric anyway.
"2. It's trade both in and out."
Both are important for the economy.
"If we are talking labour rights I live in Cyprus part of the eu, with no minimum wage, and shite labour rights"
The EU standards are minimum standards, many countries have better protections than the UK, but sure, the UK could lower its standards significantly without violating the level playing field. Makes you wonder how far the Torys want to reduce protections.
"On the fisheries, the UK and Ireland previously agreed fish by consent. Ireland is now part of the EU, who now negotiates for them, thus those previous allowances are void. Of course they are a bargaining chip."
The same is true for fishing rights of French fishers, Dutch fishers, German fishers, ..... All these rights predate the EU, just like for Irish fishermen. The Brexiteres made this a bargaining chip.

@MatijaMajstorovic "Germany was on wrong side in both world wars,"
And as a result Germany changed from the second most powerful nation on earth to a divided country on 1945. And we needed to accept these changes. Only accepting these changes and being peaceful made German unification possible.
"Serbia was on the winner side in both world wars,"
And Germany defeated Napoleon and Napoleon III, how is this relevant?
"Why then you are comparing these two absolutely different situations?"
Both countries waged war upon their neighbors and where stopped by an international alliance. So it is not really so different.
"Kosovo was always part of Serbia,"
In the way many regions that used to be Germany "forever" are now no longer part of Germany.
"Kosovo has not it’s own history,"
Just like all these formally German regions.
"Kosovo has mixed population of Serbians and Albanians,"
Just like these formally German regions.
"Kosovar Albanians are terrorizing Kosovar Serbs,…"
Kosovo is dependent on help from abroad, so protesting about this treatment should help, but taking violent actions justifies this treatment.
"If Catalonia is Spain, if Basques are part of Spain and France, if Transilvania is Romania, why then Kosovo should be different?"
Because Serbia had been in the process of ethnic cleansing.
"Why do you have double standards?"
"If Russia annexes territories where Russians live and where Russians are being terrorized by Ukrainian army, that is terrible,"
You mean Russia annexes territories where from where Russian mercenaries have been terrorizing Ukraine.
"but if NATO illegally bombards Serbia and illegally occupy part of sovereign nation, that is totally ok to you?"
Nobody has been annexing any land from Serbia. Serbia has attacked its neighbors and the attacks of Serbia where stopped the moment when Serbias troops went home.

Mark Gable Well, May said she would never agree to a border in the Irish sea.
Boris Johnson, however, negotiated and signed it, the British population approved of this "oven ready deal" in the GA, and the parliament of Bresiters ratified it and made it internationally binding. British national law is irrelevant on the international stage.
By the way, you already had similar borders within the UK. It is only a customs border, not a national border. It is similar to a border to a Free-port.
The EU has always negotiated in good faith, it was always prepared to stand by its commitments, and it never asked for anything unreasonable bust to make a point. Any red line of the EU can be motivated.
In contrast the UK send idiots like Davit Davis to the negotiations, that neither showed knowledge nor good faith. Actually, there is a video of David Davis before he went to Brussels where he claimed the UK would not need to stand by its commitments. The UK showed bad faith from the beginning.

@emp8653 ""The companies can export as much to other countries as they want" except they can't, what do you think this whole issue is over? And what would be "fair share"? More than everyone else? "
No, the same fraction as other countries including the UK.
"Or just enough that the EU doesn't have the shortages everywhere else is going through?"
No, the same fraction as other countries including the UK.
"Of course the UK had a higher fraction delivered. Not only was the order three times smaller, but AstraZeneca had longer to deliver it? A comparison like that only works if deliveries started at the same time and for the same amount ordered."
This is not a coffee shop but these are contracts with delivery dates.
"How is the need in the UK less of that in the EU? Only 5 million people have had their second dose and true protection only occurs weeks after inoculation."
Well, all venerable people in the UK had at least the first dose. So the amount of people to save with1000 doses is smaller in the UK.
"The first valid point you've made all day was the one on Australia. "
Fine.
"Again, why should the life of someone in a developing country be deemed more valuable just because their country is developing? Covid-19 has hit countries hard regardless of how developed a country is. Covid-19 is not a disease of poverty, there are vulnerable individuals in every country. So why should a developing country be allowed the vaccines they bought over one that isn't developing?"
The countries in South America have been hit very hard and the virus is raging. In addition it is harder for these countries to purchase the vaccine. Finally it helps avoiding further mutations of the virus.
"The UK has the fourth highest death toll per 100,000 in Europe and you want to start bringing up global death, as if the UK hasn't battled with Covid as badly as the EU."
You have been hit worse because your government was late in the first lock down.
"You say humanitarian as if the vaccines are being sent by the EU out of goodwill."
No I did not say this.
"South and Central American countries have made an agreement with AstraZeneca just like the EU. The cost of Mexico and Argentina's vaccines for example are being covered by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim."
Very nice but not the point.
"Again, the EU don't have the right to "allow" a private company to do business, that's not how the world works. As I have already pointed out it would be illegal under WTO rules to not allow it."
Actually they have. In cases of an emergency seize required goods is legal. But that is not what is done. However, all the EU has done is to force the contract with AZ.
"Lmao you say I'm being repetitive? The only reason I'm having to repeat myself is because you keep bringing up the same nonsense."
Sure you are repeating the same nonsense over and over.
"So acting reasonably is fulfilling their contractual obligations to another country, something the EU itself isn't allowing a private company to do. Therefore by your standards the EU is not acting reasonably."
The EU has no contractual obligation AZ has. The company has contractural obligations towards the EU, anything else is irrelevant.
"The UK hasn't made any contractual agreements, therefore there is nothing to fulfil, why is that not getting in your head?"
Fine, once again neither has the EU.
" If a coffee shop is closed for business you can't complain you haven't got your coffee?"
Once again, that is not a coffey shop, these are contracts with delivery dates.
"The UK isn't open for negotiation yet as they have already stated that when their rollout is finished their sites will only be used for exportation."
Sure, you have an export ban until the end of the rollout. Well, it is good the EU does not need to negotiate with the UK about this.
"How is the EU better? They haven't exported anything, that was private companies. All the EU has done is block exports and made threats."
All the UK and the USA have done is to bock exports.
"Also you never did answer my question properly, I asked why should the EU be prioritised when they haven't used 45% of the vaccines they have? Don't go ignoring half the question now."
I HAVE ANSWERED THE QUESTION. ARE YOU TO STUPID TO READ??????

@Food00 "and are they now members ?"
Sadly, Ukraine is not a member of NATO, otherwise there would be no war in Ukraine. That is the problem with NATO being too friendly towards Russia. It is seen not as a friendly gesture, but as a weakness.
"Russia didn’t cause the expansion ,they have been complaining about its expansion ."
Russia was complaining about something they caused themselves.
"Everyone has a red line and nato crossed that line ,to provoke Russia ."
Well, the EU has red line too, and invading a country directly at our border is one.
"if nato exist and didn’t expand towards their border trying to surround them ."
NATO never tried to surround Russia.
Every country can apply to become a member of NATO. Well, the Russian aggression towards its direct neighbors, has caused this neighbors to apply for NATO.
"Nato and Russia are not even friends"
Well, that is for Russia to decide, NATO is a defense treaty. It prevents its members from being attacked. But sure, if you want to bully and attack your neighbors you are against them joining an organization that prevents this.
1
-
@Food00 " wtf , where was the eu when other countries were being invaded ? "
Ukraine is a neighbor of the EU.
"Nato is being friendly with Russia how ? "
Well, NATO rejected the application of Ukraine twice. Sadly they listened to guys like Mearsheimer.
"That’s not for Russia to decide ."
Sure it is, if Russia would not threaten NATO members than NATO would have not interest in Russia.
"They are not friends and that’s so obvious,"
NATO could be neutral towards Russia, and the EU could have a positive relationship with Russia, it it was not for the behavior of Russia.
"they could have taken Russia’s concern seriously and provided solutions and not just ignore it ."
Well, Russia is important as a neighbor and Ukraine is equally important. NATO will not prevent any country from applying for membership, that is a basic property of NATO. Russia should just behave in a way that does not push its neighbors into NATO.
"How many country has Russia been aggressive to ?"
Estonia in 1991
Chechnya 1999-2008
Georgia 2008
Ukraine invasion 2014
Ukraine insurgency 2014-2022
Ukraine invasion 2022
"They caused nato’s expansion after there was agreement that they won’t expand ?"
There never was such an agreement.
"I think we need another nato for us and I wonder how they would react to it"
Well, you have it, but not for defense but for pushing an aggression. Russian troops have crossed Belarus to invade Ukraine.
Belarus is endangering NATO members. According to Russian thinking this would be a perfect reasonable cause for NATO to invade Belarus.

@Food00 Why do you think Russian concerns are more important than the concerns of Ukraine, Poland, or any other country. Especially as Russia exposes the west to a subliminal aggression.
"well nato rejected … That doesn’t mean it was friendly."
It was a concession towards Russia an act of appeasement, it was wrong.
"Nato could stay out of Russia’s borders and let peace reign instead of trying to provoke them ."
NATO is nowhere within the Russian border, so what are you talking about?????
NATO is clearly not provoking Russia.
"If nato could be trusted ,Russia won’t have a reason to be insecure "
Russia is insecure because it is irrelevant, a filling station with nukes.
It is at best a local power.
"Estonia -ussr (different from Russia )"
Well, Russia claims the legacy of the SU, and all eastern European countries in the EU have bad memories to the time they were controlled by Moscow.
"Chechnya -wants to secede but Russia said no ."
Well the war was perused with an unbelievable brutality. It was a huge advertisement campaign for NATO.
"Georgia -nato"
The invasion in Georgia had been prepared by Russia since 2000. Sadly they were no NATO members, otherwise Russia had not invaded in 2008.
"I don’t support the annexation of Crimea but I don’t see the people protesting so that’s okay by me"
Well it was an invasion into an independent country.
"Ukraine insurgency ,Russia didn’t invade"
Well Russia just financed a war that killed 15000 Ukrainians.
"Ukraine invasion -nato"
Bullshit!
"I have seen any aggression here ."
This view is the reason the Russian neighbors cannot trust Russia and want to join NATO.
"Oh so now nato feels endangered ."
Not NATO, NATO members feel endangered. Russia states that NATO member countries in eastern Europe should leave NATO. Well, and countries like Poland and the Baltic republics reasonably see this as a threat towards them.
"it’s won’t be a prefect reasonable cause because Russia’s concern were taken seriously"
Sure, but the Russian view is not the only view.
Poland's view is more important for NATO. Lituenias view is more important for NATO. Latviasview is more important for NATO. Estonias view is more important for NATO.
The reason every one of these countries is more important than Russia is the fact that they are members.
"so I don’t think anyone should take their fears seriously besides who wants to invade nato ?"
Well Russia has just made an enormous mistake by invading Ukraine, so the Russian leadership is clearly deranged. Russia could not win against NATO but they could do a lot of damage, and nobody knows what a deranged government could do.

@David S Blair "rubbish they granted the transition period because they wanted twelve months with the U.K. paying in."
Without the WA there would have been a hard Brexit and Barnier would have had a much stronger hand for the negotiations in 2020. Sure, there would have been disruptions, but this would have been the result of not agreeing to the WA.
" It also says in article 50 that they would corporate on getting a FTA, with the U.K., Barnier, was insisting we sort the WA, out before talking about trade relations."
It may have been a good strategy by Barnier, but it makes sense. The issues of the divorce needed to be solved irrespectively if the EU and the UK agreed on a deal and what this deal would be.
"No, this is the EU, all over, with very little time left to put there mess right."
Still better than the situation of the UK.
"It would will be no good them saying we left by accident."
It would not have been an accident, but the conscious decision of the UK. Nobody could blame the EU for the catastrophic results of a no-deal Brexit in the UK. You wanted this, you have to live with it.

@m.w.5691 I am from Baden Würtemberg, and I do not want my policy being made from Bavaria, Hesse...., but it is not, the German Government has to answer to the German electorate. In 1806 the Holy Roman Empire was dissolved, an event that gave freedom to the Countries (or States it was constituted of), this may have been beneficial for the individual Kings of these countries, but it was severely detrimental for the population. Furthermore, most of these member countries found that they were pushed around on the World stage without the envelope of the Holy Roman Empire.
You have been working in many countries within and outside of the EU, and this way you have experienced the benefit of freedom of movement within the EU, and the EU contracts outside the EU.
But no, the EU is not a Federal country but a federation of individual countries. Any member country has the ability to veto each EU rule. So it is impossible that you are exposed to any rule you have not actively agreed to.

@GusMac6129 "I have been following is since 1991."
Fine.
"But yes, since the coup by the West in Ukraine in 2014"
A revolution by the majority of the population of Ukraine in order to save Ukraine from the the fate of Belarus.
"is when it really started ramping up, the recruitment the indoctrination, training & arming of Ukrainian nationalists, with your tax money."
- Well, for years Azov has not shown much far right behavior, all the stories are several years old.
- And even if they where far right they are irrelevant compared to the sice of the Ukrainian army
- And even more Azov is tiny compared to Russian Nazi groups.
"These nationalists hate Russians, they murdered, tortured, imprisoned anyone in Ukraine that still spoke Russian or still lived by Russian values."
That is bullshit.
I mean Ukraine even voted for a Russian speaker as president.
"Mainly in eastern Ukraine, that came under fire, many innocents were murdered, upto 14'000."
You mean they where murdered or endangered by Putins minions, the so called "separatists".
"It is exactly what the Nazis did with the Jews."
You mean what Russia did to Ukraine?
"The funny things is, the Western MSM used to report on these nationalists condemning them,"
Yes there were some issues in 2014, but since then it was the pro Russian side that mainly broke the law.
"they even reported on the Odessa massacre on Russian ethnics."
Both sides where throwing Molotov cocktails at each other. The fire in Odessa may even have been an accident.
"The reporting all suddenly disappeared, to then favour/support what Ukraine was doing. Why?"
Because it was the pro Russian side committing the crimes.
"Who can blame the Russians being concerned,"
They can be concerned, but this is no reason for an Invasion, not for the first, not for the second not for the third.
"that their neighbour was being armed to the teeth, killing ethnic Russians & denying them democracy?"
What is an "ethnic Russian" there are Russian speaking Ukrainians, and one of them is President, no one is denying him democracy. Many of the Russian speakers them defend their country against Russian troops.
Russian troops are killing exactly the people they claim to protect.
"Denying them any rights what-so-ever?"
They have the same rights as any other citizen of Ukraine.
"I personally thought the Russians would have moved sooner than 2022 (its not a coincidence its during Bidens regime), to protect those ethnics."
You mean to kill them.
"But here we are, it is almost job done & the Donbass can be free."
Well it will take some time to free Donbass, but it seems Kherson will be first.
"But i also suspect, the goes way deeper, than this conflict, we know Ukraine is just getting used by the West, to try to force regime change in Russia?"
It was Russia that attacked Ukraine, not the other way around.
"So the West can put their own people in charge? It's failed."
In charge of what?
"Sanctions have not worked."
Oh they work.
"What it truly the end game?"
Well, Russia leaving Ukraine and Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia joining NATO and later the EU.
"What is it really all about?"
Russia not accepting realities, they are no longer a super power, they have the GDP of Spain.
"I have my thoughts, but i could be typing for hours. Wake the f**k up people."
Yes, please wake up.

"This war could have been avoided well before the invasion!"
Sure, if Ukraine had joined NATO.
"If UK stayed within EU and USA’s and NATO’s troops stayed in Afghanistan, this war could have been avoided. Recent evacuation of USA and NATO troops from Afghanistan exposed USA’s and NATO’s weakness, which gave Putin to make a date for the invasion."
Not really.
"Brexit is a major blow for EU’s stability and security."
Brexit improved stability of the EU, and was a minor blow for EU security.
"Brexit has delayed global peace by 200 years."
Nah.
"War between Russia and Ukraine have delayed global peace by another 300 years."
You claim to be able to see 500 years into the future? That is ludicrous. It may be nothing, it may be bad, it may be exactly what was needed for world peace.
"Several months ago, well before the invasion, USA and NATO know that Russia is going to invade Ukraine. NATO could have moved some of their troops with their hi-tech equipment to Ukraine when Russia was positioning their troops by the border of Ukraine. If Russia sees NATO troops in Ukraine, there was no way Russia would have invaded Ukraine. USA was waiting for this war for their economic and political gain."
Could be right, but in this case the danger would have continued after the troops had been removed again.
"This war could also have been easily avoided if President of Ukraine declared neutrality when President of Russia was requesting numerous times well before the invasion."
When Putin says neutrality, he means a puppet dictatorship.
"President of Ukraine could not declare neutrality because Ukraine was mislead by the USA and NATO with a “resisting strategy” for their own economic and political gain at global stage."
Not Selensky could not declare that type of neutrality because it would have been the end of Ukraine.
"USA is the only winner from this war."
Could be.
"When I USA, I mean USA government, politicians, billionaires, millionaires, and shareholders. USA government wants this war much more than Russia wants this war. Capitalism and market economy will not exist in USA without on going wars and on going regime changes elsewhere."
Well, here it is Russia that wants a regime change.
"Putin will not go home with empty handed when he already lost significant amount of soldiers and economic sanctions!"
I guess, he will go with the regions held by the rebels before the beginning of the war. Let us see how he spins this as a victory?
"There is no point isolating Putin further and further. Putin would not hesitate to push nuclear buttons as a final resort if Putin thinks its game over for him without a significant win."
If Putin wins he will start the next war with the same threat of nuclear Armageddon. Appeasement makes things worse in the long term.
"USA and NATO will need to come up with something that Putin can feel a victory."
Putin will need something he can sell as a victory. But he mist not feel a victory, otherwise he will start the next war.
"If USA and NATO cannot come up with something substantial for Putin's victory, the war will last several months or years!, which means more lives, buildings, schools, hospitals, factories, shopping centres, and other infrastructures will be under threat. And, more refugee crisis and mental health issues are inevitable. USA and NATO must play major part to find a solution in order to stop this war and rebuild the Ukraine."
Stop the war in Ukraine, without laying the groundwork for the next war.

@Andrew21795 Well, I would not call Sweden a success story, especially as the numbers are rising there once again too. I would call the actions in Taiwan S Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and also China a success. These countries combine minimal impact on the economy and on health.
But sure, Sweden shows one aspect, if the population behaves reasonably, you can get away without a lockdown. Your posts, however, here are doing the opposite. You are enboldening the average YouTube consumer to disregard the savety measures.

@gmun2248 Well, the main reason Taiwan, S Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and also China did well was the fact they had experienced the SARS outbreak before. So the population had the awareness and the government had the means in place. Maybe Musk is right in this aspect that COVID19 will increase awareness and help to mitigate the effects of future outbreaks (well I do not agree with him on many other aspects). I remember discussing the chance of such an outbreak with my mates in school in the 90s. In principe, all important aspects were known decades ago.
Still I was watchuing thenews about an epeidemic far away, it was more or less just television until suddenly the virus was here. We all, government and population have been totally unprepared, everywere in Europe.
