Well, ripping up the WA and with it, the GFA will lead to no deal with the EU, no deal with the USA, and it will spoil the peace at the border in Ireland. It would be the fastest way to Irish unification.

@ceased2care Well, the WA is binding. It is an international treaty. It was signed by Boris and ratified by the present Brexitere parliament. The Torys even won a general Election with this oven-ready-deal. Boris should not have signed it if he had issues with it. The British population should not have voted for it if there were issues. It is the PD that is non-binding.

@ceased2care The UK is no longer a member of the EU. The EU no longer has any reason to be nice to you. Still, the negotiations have been fair. But let me be clear, there will be no Apeasement for any British aggression against Ireland and therefore the EU. Pacta sunt servanda!
2
@ceased2care Well, Brexiteres expected they could bully Ireland into submission, but Ireland is a member of the EU the UK is not. A violation of the GFA is an attack on Ireland and therefore an attack on the EU.

The WA explicitly mentions the ECJ as arbitrator. Johnson signed it and your parliament of Brexiters has ratified it.

WTF?

Well, if there is a conflict between the UK and Ireland the USA will support Ireland.

Funny that you deleted your own post, it seems my answer has hit a nerve and now you want to lie about it.
1
Well, I obviously replied to one of your posts in this thread. Now, this post is no longer visible and my post is second in this thread. What would be your conclusion on these facts?
1
@ceased2care Listen, it is not so uncommon to have multiple customs regimes in one country. Any freeport is a zone with a different customs regime. A free port is a zone with zero import tariffs for any region on earth. If you want to import goods from the freeport to the main country you need to pay the full tariff. Similarly, you will have to pay the full tariff If you want to import goods from NI to the main country. Still, freeports are parts of the same country and the same will be true for NI.
1
@ceased2care The name of the UK is absolutely irrelevant in this case. Pacta sunt servanda! And by the way, the UK is small compared to the EU.
1
@ceased2care Your own bad faith is no reason that the WA would be non-binding.
1
@ceased2care That is no argument, that is your personal opinion that has no relevance to me. I presented you with the fact you presented me with your feelings, and you still think I was misguided. I would suppose you to follow your own advice. Just to make it clear the simple facts are: 1. The WTO requires a hard border in between countries and trade blocks. 2. The GFA requires a soft border in between NI and the ROI. 3. Therefore without additional measures, Brexit would break the GFA. 4. The WA protects the GFA from Brexit, it is therefore the only way to get a trade deal with the EU and the USA.
1
Well, the number of Catholics in NI is increasing, so anyone assumes that it will be only a matter of time until Ireland unifies. However, Brexit especially a hard Brexit with a breach of the WA and the GFA could speed up matters. The economic downturn of the UK could leed undecided to vote for the unification.
1
Well, let us look at the facts. 1. WTO rules require each member to control its borders (hard border). 2. The GFA requires a soft border in between Ireland and NI. 3. Therefore, Brexit will breach the GFA, if no additional measures are taken. 4. The WA protects the GFA by placing the customs border in the Irish sea. 5. The UK (Johnson and the parliament of Brexiters) agreed to the WA because it is the best way to conserve peace in Ireland.

Who should ban this food and why should he?

It is the UK that needs a deal not the EU, in 2021 Barniers cards will be even stronger.

@howardpierce8460 The ECJ is named as the arbitrator for the WA in the WA itself. The basis for any decision of the ECJ, in this case, will not be European law, but the text of the WA and international law.
