I'm glad Senator Rogers issued his apology and I think the problem of individual Republicans being intransigent on matters of personal responsibility and common decorum is indicative of a larger problem that the GOP leadership effectively promoted when they ignored it repeatedly when it was exhibited by ex-President Trump.

Respectfully, she doesn't need anyone else to come to her aid, and unwelcome chivalry is just a different form of chauvinism.

@Lilo-A - Agreed, but since we don't know the wishes of Representative Beatty, in respect for her agency and autonomy as a person, we shouldn't assume she would want her husband, had he not passed away last year, to act in the way described.

@fondonteven8241 - I did not intend to minimize his actions. My apologies for that result.

@jjboys215 - I hear your point, and the admirable values and pragmatism within it. But bringing aggression and violence into the response is also wholly unnecessary and an illustration of the residual cultural impact of the historical values of chivalry, which is intrinsically patriarchal and often employs a form of vigilante "justice" that undermines the rule-of-law. She won the day and ensured Representative Rogers faced the proper opprobrium without additional outside, and unprofessional actions.

@Dnyce07 - Her husband passed away last year. There's nothing soft about not needing or wanting a man or partner to interfere in your professional life. I'll go out on a limb and say the Democrats don't want you, if for no other reason than because you express such a regressive view of this situation.
