  1. Thank goodness. Sharks are the best thing for the ocean ecosystems they belong to. We give wild animals like bison and bear space in national parks without demonizing their feeding habits and grazing or hunting grounds, sharks deserve the same respect. Sharks attack humans as a defensive strike, because humans are poaching fish or turtles in their hunting grounds, or as curious "nibble" because the human, and/or their surfboard/scuba gear/etc. is an unrecognized object in their territory.

  2.  okole puka  - Thank you for driving this fact home. Thankfully, I didn't fall for it, thus my point about letting them live undisturbed by tourists by closing the areas to swimming and water recreation activities when they are hunting for their food.
